Today we feature two aphrodisiacs that are sustainable and absolutely delicious! Both will arrive next Tuesday, in plenty of time for the romantic day. OLYMPIA NATIVE OYSTERThe Olympia Native Oyster is the smallest oyster you will find anywhere – it is the size of a 50-cent piece and weighs about 2 ounces. This oyster packs a tasty punch you won’t soon forget. You will want a dozen for yourself at least, they are so incredibly satisfying! And because of the small size, they are very easy to open! The Olympia from Taylor Farms has a mineral and briny quality and goes down as smoothly as mayonnaise. It is the only oyster native to Washington State and is on the Slow Food Ark of Taste, a list of tasty foods that lost their foothold in the marketplace. This oyster was particularly threatened by pollution and was over-harvested by American Indians and later by European settlers. The Olympia Oyster is now hand harvested by a few family-run shellfish farms. Olympia Oysters come with shucking instructions and a shucking tool! They will arrive in a beautiful, reusable wooden box on Tuesday February 13th. They will be harvested this week and will last one week in your fridge. They are shipped overnight FedEx. • 24 oysters and shucking tool $69 shipping included • 48 oysters and shucking tool $93 ($1.93/oyster) shipping included CHOCOLATE SAMPLERChocolate is everywhere this time of year but our friends at Vintage Chocolate have created a product that is truly above the rest. This unique single-origin chocolate from the countryside of Guayaquil, Ecuador is made with an heirloom, endangered variety of cocoa native to the region. The heirloom cocoa beans are sourced exclusively from sustainable cocoa farms and are harvested, fermented and dried nearby. The chocolate is specially processed to maintain high levels of antioxidants and preserve the aroma of Ecuador’s nacional cocoa variety. The flavor is long and nutty, with a powerful dominant chocolate note with no bitterness, little acidity and some tannins. The texture is smooth and creamy. This pure, high quality cocoa, grown in harmony with nature under the species-rich rainforest canopy, is becoming widely displaced by the inferior hybrid version that is grown in deforested, full-sun fields resulting in dull-tasting cocoa, lacking intensity and flavor, with serious environmental and social impacts. Our cocoa is produced and harvested by cooperatives that meet rigorous social and environmental standards set by the Rainforest Alliance, an international conservation organization. Our chocolatier experimented with combining its dark and milk chocolates with savory ingredients such as salted peanuts, roasted cocoa nibs and toasted coconut pieces. Their new tasting offers an outstanding treat. • $48 - Heritage Chocolate Sample 8 bars – Shipping Included 38% milk chocolate (one 3.5-oz bar) 38% milk chocolate with salted peanuts (one 3.5-oz bar) 65% dark chocolate with roasted nibs (one 3.5-oz bar) 75% dark chocolate with salted peanuts (one 3.5-oz bar) 75% dark chocolate with toasted coconut (one 3.5-oz bar) 75% dark chocolate (one 3.5-oz bar) 90% dark chocolate (one 3.5-oz bar) 45% soy milk chocolate (one 3.5-oz bar) Olympia Native Oysters The Pacific oyster is a Goliath next to the tiny Olympia. Guest guest
Never had a deep-fried oyster amd I'm not a big fan of oysters at all, but I *do* like an occasional bowl of oyster stew. I think it's the cream and butter that makes it so good, heh-heh. --Cee-- RealSimple , " Sluggy " <arcure wrote: > > > hehehe > In my younger pre-healthy eating days, I'd take the slime breaded & deep > fried....now that was yum! ;-) > sluggy >
