Guest guest
Hi Kate! Prilosec didn't work for me, and I had a bad reaction to Prevacid, so I completely stopped taking all medication! Here is what I did instead:1. I went to the grocery store and got some fresh ginger root from the produce section. I ran it thru my juicer and stored the juice in a clean jar in the refrigerator. Every morning on an empty stomach, I drank a spoonful. Note: this is NOT for the faint of heart, lolol, but you DO get sort of used to it after a while. It's like drinking 100 proof alcohol of some sort. But it WORKS. Don't eat for ONE HOUR after you drink this juice. I also took a spoonful at night before I went to bed, on a sort of empty stomach, since my reflux is always worse at night. (Thanks to Barbara for telling me about ginger!) :-) 2. Eat some applesauce (organic, no sugar added) or fresh apples every day. I alternate, usually going to the fresh apples first. 3. Drink hot Ginger tea. 4. Get some organic, raw apple cider vinegar. Put a tablespoon in hot water along with some local, organic honey and drink a cup every day. Doesn't matter what time of day, just when you are experiencing acid reflux. These things do work, but you have to be consistent and do them every day. It make take a couple weeks to really feel the effects. And then you have to keep them up. If you stop, and the symptoms come back, just start up on them again. And finally, there are some severe illnesses associated with long term acid reflux. Hopefully, you've had the tests to determine what exactly is causing your acid reflux. Mine is caused by chemo, and will hopefully stop naturally some time. I'd try these remedies WITH your current meds, don't quit them yet until you've tried these things and have talked to your doctor about it. :-)Cyndi In a message dated 1/13/2007 10:12:26 P.M. I do have acidreflux -- a Prilosec a day & all that. It would be nice to be able totake care of it more naturally.Kate
