Guest guest
Very cool! I must try this! Raw butter is expensive to buy, but soooooo good. And don't discard that buttermilk! YUM! You can use it in a lot of recipes, or just drink it. :-) Cyndi In a message dated 1/10/2007 12:11:12 P.M. Guest guest
Did you see the comments at the bottom? You can make butter with your mixer, blender, food processor, or even the dough cycle on a bread maker. I wonder if an ice cream maker would work? If you have any of those appliances, that is. So much fun! And so healthy if you can get raw milk or raw cream. Cyndi In a message dated 1/10/2007 1:19:06 P.M. I was very surprised at what it tasted like without salt. (Not good in my opinion, LOL!) --Celia--
Guest guest
Oooooooooh, a butter mold! That makes it even MORE fun, lol. Good idea! I would have just plopped it in a bowl and been done with it, lol. Cyndi In a message dated 1/10/2007 1:32:53 P.M. Guest guest
Ellen, to make butter you need raw cream not milk. And if you found raw milk they may also have cream. I'm making ice cream from my raw cream that I'm buing, but I may start making butter too. Mmmm...delicious Barbara Some of you may already know this but I thought I would share in case you did not. http://www.slashfood.com/2006/03/03/how-to-make-your-own-butter/ I think I have found a source for raw milk so I hope to try this in the future. Guest guest
Oh, ok, I thought it was the length of time, not the speed. That's ok, I think I have a hand mixer somewhere. :-)Cyndi In a message dated 1/10/2007 8:59:13 P.M. Pacific Standard Time, barbara3 writes: I don't think ice cream maker would work, Cyndi. Guest guest
Ellen...thanks for attaching the pic. She's absolutely beautiful and she looks just like you! As for not having time to keep up the blog, I understand. There are only so many hours in the day and we must all pick and choose where we spend our time or waste it, LOL! --Celia-- P.S. I also agree about the butter molds...truly lovely but too pricey for my taste! - Ellen Christian RealSimple Wednesday, January 10, 2007 7:06 PM [Norton AntiSpam] Re: [RealSimple] How to make your own butter Hi Celia - I haven't been keeping the blog up to date so I took the link down If I ever start blogging again I'll add it back.
