shopping sabbatical

I'm always on a shopping sabbatical, it's just how I

live. I don't like shopping and can easily live

without 'stuff'. For groceries, I shop at Aldi,

which is a small (4 aisle) stock up store. They have

limited stock and if they don't have it, I don't need

it.

I lived in Alaska for 10 years back in my 20s and we

had so little money that things like beef and coffee

were out of reach financially. I learned to live on

what I had and to make do; that first year, I even

made all of my own Christmas tree ornaments.

I am astounded and sickened by some of my friends who

spend so much money on junk and then complain to me

that they don't have any money. Some of these same

people make 3 times as much money as me and yet when I

did their taxes last year, they couldn't afford to pay

me, so I just gifted my work to them (although that is

partly how I make my living....meager as it is). I

think living a simple life is the way to be and the

way to honor Mother Earth and it is a great way to

challenge our own ingenuity.

Have a simple day!

What I see my neighbors do for their kids' birthdays would make your hair stand on end.

It's definitely not what you earn, it's what you spend that counts. I prefer the feeling of putting money in my savings account to anything I can buy.
