Guest guest
Russ, it can be a sign of poor circulation or kidney/liver failure brought on by diabetes, but it is not generally considered an *initial* symptom of diabetes. Incredible thirst, frequent urination, yeast rashes, etc. would long precede swelling and edema...but sometimes people choose to ignore the other symptoms out of fear (Oh, my GOD! I will have to recognize that I'm diabetic!) and do not see a doctor until the disease is advanced. In *that* case, swelling and edema might be considered the *presenting* symptoms. --Celia-- - Bluesea RealSimple Monday, January 01, 2007 6:38 PM [Norton AntiSpam] Re: [RealSimple] swollen feet My 82 yr old mother has this same malady, and it can be associated with heart disease and poor circulation, among other things. Anyone know if diabetes can cause this as an initial symptom? My mother doesn't have heart disease or poor circulation, according to her docs. Russ ..
