Guest guest
Russ, saturated fat is GOOD for you. I know that goes against everything you've heard for the last couple decades, but it is true. Saturated fats are victims of the MOST food misconceptions out there. Pastuerization takes out most of the good nutritional value in butter and milk. But fat is crucial in the absorption of many vitamins. If you recall our conversations on grass fed cows, this produces a highly superior fat. Eaten in its RAW form, it is very healthy. Fats strengthen, protect and cleanse all body systems. I have a couple of resources for you to read, since it would take hours for me to type it all: http://www.nourished.com.au/articles/butter-is-better Some good articles from the Weston A. Price site: http://www.westonaprice.org/knowyourfats/index.html I personally don't promote a complete raw diet for humans, but i found this article interesting: http://www.buildfreedom.com/dietanc.htm Hope this helps. Please comment once you've read the articles. There are also a couple good books I know of, by Sally Fallon, Eat Fat Lose Fat, and Nourishing Traditions. Mine are out on loan, or I could quote some interesting facts. Also, I am HIGHLY anemic, and any time I cut back on eating fats, because of nausea, I can instantly see the adverse effects in my skin and energy. Having said all that, if you are under a doctors care because of cholesterol, I wouldn't make any radical changes in your diet. Small, moderate amounts as an experiment might be in order. As faras I know, it's full of fat and I have an elevated cholesterol issue. I can keep it around or below 200 with Welchol, a med that blocks it in the stomach (not a statin), but I have to keep my fat intake to something reasonable. So what's the good stuff in butter? I'm using Promise right now, taste is OK, low fat and no partially hydrogenated oil.But butter certainly tastes a lot better. I'm actually eating an egg once in awhile now, since new info says they're not thatbad for cholesterol levels.Russ

Eggs in moderation are actually healthy for you to eat. http://www.hawaii.edu/ur/University_Report/URJuly98/Mythegg.html The key for most of this is to loose weight so that you don't have the added stress of being overweight.
