Guest guest
Noelle, my great grandmothers nickname was Gypsy....and my mother had a gypsy spirit too. I am much more a Hobbit, content to stay in my Hobbit hole, lol. But the universe had other plans for me, and I've moved around more than I ever thought I would. I learned to accept the lessons it was meant to teach me, and for which I am now grateful! I do remember that purse, lol. I'm so glad you are enjoying everything. You are MUCH better than me at getting rid of clothing. I am such a hoarder! It's impossible for me to part with anything, which is why I need you guys so much to teach me, lol. You wouldn't believe all the clothing I still have that I never wear, like turtlenecks. Why do I keep them? Why can't I let go? I need to learn! lol. Your son and your b/f are BOTH gorgeous, as is baby Elijah! :-) I LOVE that rule about getting rid of one or two things every time you bring something new into the house! I've tried to be good about books-I freecycled a TON of them, and got rid of a lot on paperbackswap too. I haven't heard of the other site you mentioned, i will check it out! I also LOVE hearing about your burning man adventures! I don't blame you for going all out, why not enjoy yourself? It's once a year, and you deserve to have some fun! I'm going to assume everyone has heard of Freecycle? A GREAT way to declutter! You can check it out at freecycle.org, if you haven't heard of it before. It is a nationwide network of groups designed to connect people who wish to get rid of items that might otherwise end up in landfills. Noelle, I see you as a free spirit, someone very confident and comfortable with who you are, not afraid of new adventures and experiences. I want to be like you when i grow up, lol. :-)Hugs, Cyndi In a message dated 12/28/2006 9:57:57 P.M. The purse in question is suede and snaps closed, small enough to take to dinner but it actually holds more than a lipstick. And speaking of black, remember that gorgeous sheer black blouse you gave me? I wore that over a black lace teddie at my b/f's request when we went out for his birthday. No worries about the dress, take care of YOU. The dress will find its way to me in due time. Now about the pics in my profile....I have one with my man and another with my son. My son, Anthony, is the tall tan young man standing with me outside of a restaurant, and Algis (the b/f) is the one where we are cheek-to-cheek. The photo of me on the sofa is with Jamie, one of my dearest friends and also a coworker. The black and white photo is of me with Anthony's son, Elijah, back when he was a newborn, about three years ago. Thank you for the compliment of keeping things simple. I admit I tend to get a bit lavish and extravagant when I camp though.....I have a huge tent and decorate the inside to look like the interior of some Sheik's harem. We won't even mention the clothes and wigs (!) I take with me to Burning Man! But once I am home, and sometimes while I am still there, I start giving away my stuff, except for the tent. Most of the fabric I fashion into Bedouin chic outfits is now hanging from my bedroom ceiling.....so I'll have to plan a different wardrobe for next year. Where I find I start too gather too much is with books and music. Thank goodness for paperbackswap.com and swapacd.com! I also go through my closet once a season, so at least four times a year I am giving away clothes I don't wear (or fit) anymore and most of these clothes came from thrift stores, freecycle, clothing swap parties and....Cyndi! I admit, I RARELY give anything away that I received from Cyndi as I love her taste too much. If I can't fit into it, I save it for when I will again (and I have). I also have a rule that works for me (don't do this if it causes you stress though!): For everything I bring in, something must go out. I try to make it so for every ONE thing I bring in, TWO go out, but sometimes that causes me stress. The exception is when I am replacing something, such as a busted unrepairable vacuum cleaner, I don't feel obligated to find something to give away, but I make sure that worthless vac is gone, usually to someone who likes to tinker with machines. And gifts don't count either, I don't use my rule when I am receiving gifts. And of course food doesn't count, or wine...hee hee. Because I share a place with roommates, we are able to share a lot of things, like a vacuum, or a microwave, instead of having three. Splitting the cost of expenses and household supplies is great too. I'll share more ideas as they come to mind, right now I need to get some sleep. xoxoxo Noëlle
