Guest guest
Welcome again, everyone! Some of you I know very well, some of you I know only casually, and some of you are strangers to me. But you have all been invited from different groups I participate in. Talk about worlds colliding! But if you are here, it is because like me, you have a desire to change your life-to eat healthy, nourishing food, to simplify your life, and to ultimately find the best possible quality life you are able to. So congratulations! We have all started this journey today, and hopefully, we will reach our goals together too. What exactly DOES RealSimple mean? As the description on the homepage says, we all have a desire to eat REAL food, and lead a SIMPLE life. A life where we feel connected to our bodies, our souls, and our world. A life where we know we are doing everything in our power to surround ourselves with what REALLY matters to us. Our families, our friends, our pets, our health. Why did I create this list? I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgekins Lymphoma in August. This is a cancer of the immune system. It was spreading rapidly thru my Lymph glands, and had shut down my bone marrow production by 50%. This is not a cancer that is hereditary, yet my mother and my grandfather (her father) both died from the same thing. Lymphoma is thought to be caused by ENVIRONMENTAL factors. This has caused me to question EVERYTHING in my environment. The food I eat, the chemicals I use in my home, the air I breathe, and the way I live my life. I am afraid for my brothers and my children. I don't want them to go thru the same thing. I've always had awareness of good nutrition, fortunately. Household chemicals tend to give me migraines, so I've tried to find alternate cleaning products. I run a home based business, which means I am busy all the time. I never realized the stress it put on me until I was forced to stop working. Over the past 5 months, it has become all too clear to me how much my life needed changes. I was happy (I thought,) I was healthy (I thought) and I was successful (I thought.) Cancer has made it all to clear to me that what I perceived as being happy, healthy, and successful was GARBAGE, and needed to be reevaluated. The more I started investigating my food supply, the more it scared me. I started looking for local sources for organic produce, meat and milk. Fortunately, here in CA, you can easily find products labeled Hormone Free, etc. I know other states may not be as fortunate. Raw Milk is still legal here, at least for now. I also found a food co-op in Sacramento. I've found sources for grass fed, organic beef on the internet. The more I looked at my life, the more I realized I wanted to change it. Downsize, declutter, destress, clear my mind and my spirit. Find what I really want out of life and concentrate on what is important to me. The strange thing is, I already knew, I just needed a push to make my dreams and goals a priority. It's a learning process! I want to learn all I can, and I hope you all do, too. I know many of you have strengths you've developed from your own personal journeys, whether it is from homesteading, homeschooling, cooking the whole foods way, curing "affluenza", or just because you make me laugh, dang it, lol. Laughter is a great destresser! And getting rid of stress is a PRIME component in leading a simple, healthy, fulfilled life. So, that's how we got here. Feel free to post a recipe, share an article, tell of ways you've found to organize and declutter your home, how you're teaching your children to value spiritual wealth instead of material wealth, where you find good, healthy food, anything you want! The sky is the limit.............. Health and happiness, Cyndi
