I tried making the soup today and filled the pot with oleander and added

water. I set the timer for 3 1/2 hours but about 45 minutes before the

end it ran out of water and scorched just a little. What should I do

now? Can it be saved?

I would start over myself. You have to cook it at a very low boil and

watch it, adding water if need be. If you loosely lay the oleander in

the pot without hard packing and put enough water to just come over

the top of the oleander, it should not run dry and scorch, but it is

hard on some ovens to adjust it to just the right temperature to get a

slow rolling boil. And remember if you have a slow boil and then

cover (put the top or lid on) the boil will be much greater.

Next time, set the timer for 2 hours, then check it every 30 minutes

thereafter. And I would boil it for a full 4 hours, adding water if

need be.

What you might want to try with the scorched oleander is to go ahead

and make it and then keep cooking it down until it is syrupy and make

it into a skin creme to use on warts, moles, age spots and all kinds

of skin thingies.
