Guest guest
Personally I woudl lose the hematite. TO me it seems to heavy a stone for sleeping well and dreaming, due to it's grounding prpoerties. Definitely stick with the rose quartz and perhaps pair it with selenite or angelite. Blessings to your afternoon all. ReNau Jessi <gypsysp Thu, 7 Feb 2008 11:07 am [CrystalHW] Sleep Aid Hi all, I've been sleeping very poorly lately, so all week I've been sleeping with a small piece of each rose quartz, and hematite in a pouch in my pillow. It works very well for a restful sleep, however I wake up very groggy. I'd like to continue using this 'sleep aid' through Monday, as my work schedule has thrown off my sleeping schedule. Is there a different stone, or a better combination I could try that might leave me less groggy? Thanks for any suggestions, Jessi ________ Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Mobile. Guest guest
Hmm that's an interesting idea, ReNau. I always thought 'the more grounded I am, the better I'll sleep' but is that not necessarily true? I do have trouble sleeping, but I also feel I have to have a grounding stone at my feet in bed because I get pains in my feet which are worse at night. But maybe this stops me sleeping so well? Any thoughts welcome! Katy x On 07/02/2008, renaumoon <renaumoon wrote: > > Personally I woudl lose the hematite. Guest guest
Hmm. I picked the hematite specifically because it would ground me. It helps me to focus my thoughts on actually sleeping, instead of thoughts of work, or whatever else my mind wanders to and keeps me awake. Unfortunately I don't have selenite or angelite in my collection yet, so I can't try those, but thanks for your suggestion, ReNau. In the past I have tried amethyst and moonstone [seperately], and while they both calm me, they don't seem to help me get to sleep or stay asleep. Since the subject of dreaming was brought up, at the moment I just want to sleep long enough to function at work on my current odd work schedule, but once my work schedule is back to normal, my sleep schedule will go back to normal, and I'd be interested in finding stones that could enhance my dreaming [or understanding of my dreams]. Someone once suggested a combo of sodalite and rutilated quartz for interesting dreams -- while there's no doubt they gave me interesting dreams, they also happened to be absolutely terrifying dreams, so I won't be doing that again... ~Jessi > On 07/02/2008, renaumoon <renaumoon wrote: > > > > Personally I woudl lose the hematite. Maybe meditate with it before bed. Keep the rose quartz, try the stones listed above also there is blue lace agate. It is calming, brings deep peace and has a great soft energy. You can also try grabbing a clear quartz when you wake and keep it with you until you feel your head clear.
Guest guest
Thank you - this is a great suggestion. I do meditate before bed and often with stones, but have never done so with hematite. I will try that tonight along with the rose quartz/blue lace agate. I was trying to come up with an idea for a stone to have handy for when I wake -- I did not think of clear quartz. I was thinking more of stones that energize me, like carnelian - but sometimes that's a little too energizing for me and I don't think it would actually clear the fuzziness, so I think I will try the clear quartz and see how that goes! Thanks again! Guest guest
I came across this little bit of info while reading over my notes on my current stones and crystals. Howlite helps produce a deeper more rested sleep. If you can't tell by now I love my howlite, I do everything with it, I even make a faux howlite out of polymer clay. It is my all time favorite stone, I love the look, the feel, how soft and gentle the energy is but that is just me.
Guest guest
Howlite is a great calmer and sleep inducer. Fluorite can absorb those extra energies at bedtime, and for me, black tourmaline or smoky quartz helps me to relax and feel protected so I can sleep. Just try different stones until you find what works for you. Wishing you good and restful sleep Love and light, Cindy

Guest guest
That's a really interesting idea. I really hadn't thought of sleeping this way, but I can see how it might work. I love rhodochrosite and find this helps with the feet pain too, so maybe I'll swap my crystals over for a night and see what happens I'll give it a go and see what happens. Guest guest
Hi Cindy, I haven't got a piece of Howlite but your interest in it has made me curious Sounds like it has great properties! Another one to find at my local shop lol. Re fluorite. I tried sleeping with two versions: smoky fluorite and a greeny blue fluorite. Both made my heart race! I wonder if I'm sensitive to some kinds of crystals at night tho because some people recommend amethyst for insomnia but there is no way I can amethyst near me at night because it makes my mind race. I end up with so many fantastic ideas zooming into my head that I cannot sleep at all! It's funny how crystals can different effects on different people. Guest guest
I just wanted to add that I tried out howlite after seeing this and really found it did help me to sleep! I was surprised. Also, I found prehenite has helped increase dream recall. Guest guest
I'm glad it's working for you! I have to share with you all that I lost my Mom on January 14. She was 86, and left us in her sleep. The only way I have slept lately is with howlite. I have a jet bracelet that helps to soak up the grief, and I carry various crystal " buddies " during the day--so far, a smoky citrine has been a wonderful comfort, and blue lace agate, and a special clear quartz DT, self-healed and very sympathetic. My dreams have been vivid and sometimes disturbing. Howlite has really helped me to sleep peacefully after a bad dream. My kitty has been on my lap or right next to me pretty much 24/7, except for eating, etc. My hubby and family have been wonderful and gentle comforters as well. It's so hard to write about about my Mom, which is why it has taken so long to share. Love and light, Cindy
Guest guest
Ooo thanks for writing about this, Maureen. I'm now even more intrigued about the Howlite. Re dream recall, the past couple of nights I've had dreams that have 'meant something' the next day. I get this every now and then and have mentioned it before. The night before last I dreamt that I lost two main clients (I'm self-employed/freelance). The next day there were no problems with my own work but the front page of our local newspaper said that there were to be job losses across our county as two main companies had gone bust! Strange coincidence I thought. Last night I dreamt that people had brought round lots of new clothes for me (a nice dream this time lol), and I'd love a new wardrobe! Later today my boyfriend was trying on lots of new clothes his brother sent him that he doesn't wear. They're strange 'coincidence'-style dreams, some might say with very loose connection, but I feel they have meaning and would be interested in exploring dreams more at some stage. I wonder what triggered this change. Could be a couple of things maybe: 1) I've changed the brand of valerian I take each night; 2) The night before last I changed my night-time crystals from all grounding to hematite and blue lace agate - but found I got rather opinionated about my bf's snoring!! So last night I went with all rhodochrosite, and no grounding. Just thought I'd share all this too, lol. Guest guest
Oh yes, very good point re Amethyst, Muriel. When my neighbour died last year I was very upset, she died suddenly so it was a shock for everyone - she was such a wonderful, kind lady. I was exceptionally busy at the time and couldn't let myself grieve for about a week, until I'd reached the end of my work or I would never have been able to complete on time... but once I'd finally finished my work I sat down with a large chunk of amethyst and it sent me all these comforting messages. I was even inspired to right a poem (I never write creatively!!). This helped me express my grief and release it from my system so that I could accept her death and move forward. It was a very powerful experience, and I'm so grateful to amethyst for it! Hope this helps you too. Guest guest
That sounds lovely Katy. When I lost each of my dogs amethyst went in my pockets for some time along with a few others of course. Funnily enough I'd bought a cluster shortly before my last dog died and for her last 10 days it sat on the windowsill above her basket. She was surrounded by Rose Quartz, Clear Quartz and citrine in her basket too for that period. Her fur was SO soft! I took the Amethyst cluster through to my bedside when she went, it's still there. Guest guest
Thanks for the idea about amethyst. I have a LOT of amethyst, and chose a little heart shape to sleep with last night. Good sleep, good dreams. My new best buddy! My Mom had quite a bit of natural jewelry, lots of turquoise and Colorado jade, and a beautiful silver pendant with a large garnet. I am getting braver and wearing some of her jewelry now, and it is amazingly comforting. Thanks to all for your love and prayers, hugs and healing sent my way--I truly feel all of it!
