RE: No N's and Flax & Juice Plus

My time is limited tonight but I wanted

to respond about flax seed and prostate cancer and the Juice Plus discussion.

Even Dr. Budwig said somewhere in her books that taking large amounts of

flaxseed oil without bonding it with quark or cottage cheese, the protein

that makes it water soluble so that it can be assimilated a

used by the cells, is to be avoided.

So, the statements going around that flax oil is thought to contribute to

cancer many not go against the Budwig Protocol. Dr. Budwig warned that the use

of FO without the sulfur-based proteins would produce the " opposite

effect " . Without the sulfur-based proteins it could be dangerous. It’s

all about the emulsion process between the Flax seed oil AND the cottage

cheese. None of the studies that are warning about flax seed oil used

cottage cheese, but only pure flax seed oil.

On page 31 of FLAX OIL AS A TRUE AID AGAINST ARTHRITIS, HEART INFARCTION,

CANCER AND OTHER DISEASES Dr. Budwig writes, " The lipotropic protein

connection, e.g. Cystein, as they are found in

Quark, cottage cheese, or nuts are able to make water-soluble the biological

highly unsaturated vegetable oils in seed oils. And that is what matters. When

you mix together quark or cottage cheese and linseed oil [meaning flaxseed oil]

in your blender (emersion stick blender is best), the fat becomes water-soluble. " Water-soluble, according

to D. B, will allow the cells to readily use the oil.

Further down the same page, she writes, " Those highly unsaturated fats are

essentially rich in electrons. This is clearly measurable, physically. These

electrons enable fats to be surface-active at the capillary level. Capillary

activity is, quite simply, enormously important. "

So, from these statements, it is clear that there is a major difference between

ingesting large amounts of flaxseed oil or ALA from various sources and ingesting

the blended and bonded mixture of

FO and CC or quark that can help to heal the cells of the body. As Dr. Budwig

said, " That is what matters. " And that is why articles that discuss

flaxseed oil alone or ALA in general are not talking about the Budwig Protocol

or what Dr. Budwig recommended for success. I believe that it has been

ascertained that the body cannot break down more than 2 tablespoons of flaxseed

oil per day. HOWEVER, when it is emulsified with cottage cheese, it

becomes water-soluble and the body can take a much higher amount. The BP,

for active cancer, recommends 6 tablespoons of flaxseed oil per day emulsified

into 12 tablespoons of organic low-fat cottage cheese or quark (divided up and

taken at breakfast and after lunch) and at least 4 tablespoons of FRESHLY

grounded flax seeds. Some people do take more of the flaxseed mixture.

The reference from Dr Budwig about the

effect of single alpha linoleic acid (ALA) on malignant cells. It was written

in her book " Tod des Tumors " (Death of Tumor), p 133. To summarize:

Yes, ALA pushes cell growth. Budwig concludes that cancer tissue is defined by

growth disturbance. This opinion is supported by the histological manifestation

of a cancer cell - 2 kernels in 1 cell. The cell diversification starts with building

2 kernels and then stops. The weakness of this cell, hence its inability to

build 2 new cells is the cause of malignancy. This growth disturbance can be

repaired in vitro and vivo with

flaxseed oil. The cells divide again, but they are not malignant anymore. Hence

the observation that cancer tissue grows 250% with ALA. The researchers only

forgot to test the grown tissue for malignancy. Some researchers! Outer tissue

like mucous membrane is disposed, inner tissue is reduced by apoptosis. So ALA

does cure cancer by completing the interrupted growth process of cancer cells.

Alpha-linolenic acid - a polyunsaturated fatty acid with 18 carbon atoms; the

only omega-3 fatty acid found in vegetable products; it is most abundant in

canola oil; a fatty acid essential for nutrition

Alpha lipoic acid - a vitamin prosthetic

group in enzymes involved in oxidative decarboxylation of keto acids such as

2-oxoglutarate and pyruvate. Called also a-lipoic acid, thioctic acid.

I “think” that Alpha lipoic acid correctly should be LPA –

Lipoic Acid and Alpha linolenic acid is ALA. However, usually Alpha

Lipoic Acid is seen with the ALA, probably out of convenience.

Juice Plus is another MLM company that,

in my opinion, has products that are priced way too high (for what you get) and

they try to make eating healthy just a bit too convenient. We should be

eating or juicing our vegetables and eating our fruits – not getting them

from a pill. Now certainly there are some high quality supplements that

include vegetables and fruits – Garden of Life, intraMAX, etc. but they

are SUPPLEMENTS which means you use them “in addition to” a very

healthy diet. Most people who get on Juice Plus think that is all they

need and don’t have to worry about eating vegetables or fruit.

There is nothing healthy about that type of mindset and they is what Juice Plus

tends to foster. Wasting money on these types of things along with the

bottled juices, which by the way usually contain sodium benzoate as a

preservative, is not wise – especially for those fighting disease.

Juice your vegetables and eat your fruits. When you eat the whole fruit

your body gets the full synergistic effect of the fruit and the fiber will make

sure that you don’t get a huge insulin spike. MLM companies have to

pay up-lines and I read somewhere that up to 85% of the product price is used

for this, so that means the products are way, way over-priced. God gave

us natural food which is the perfect “fuel” for the body, if used

wisely.

(Much of the information about flax seed oil came from the Budwig group

and I added a bit extra.)

Have a great weekend, everyone. Looks like a hot one for Texas!

Be Well

shed some light on this.

Ok,

I'm getting confused. The paradox is that lignans are accepted as

good,

but the flax oil is thought to contribute to prostate cancer

because

of the high ALA content.

But

the Budwig is accepted as good, so is it the combination with

the

sulpher proteins in the milk products?

" Dissecting the paradox "

" The

valuable lignans in flaxseed are found in the outer shell of the

seeds.

But when the seeds are refined into oil, only a trace of the

lignans

ends up in the finished product. This same process

dramatically

increases the concentration of alpha-linolenic acid

(ALA),

one of the primary omega-3 fatty acids. And while some studies

have

suggested that ALA may slow cancerous growth in the breast and

colon,

the effect on prostate cancer is an entirely different story.

Out

of six known studies that have examined the association between

the

risk of prostate cancer and the intake of dietary alpha-linolenic

acid,

five of them found the cancer risk to increase with greater

intake

of ALA. And the most recent of these studies - a trial from the

Registro

Nacional de Cancer, Montevideo, Uruguay - concluded that the

two

major risk factors associated with prostate cancer are a family

history

of prostate cancer and intake of alpha-linolenic acid.

Do

you ingest ALA when you eat flaxseeds? Yes, but compared to the ALA

content

of flaxseed oil, the ALA in the seeds is generally considered

too

low to be harmful to prostate cancer patients.

To

say the jury is still out on the effects of flaxseed and flaxseed

oil

on prostate cancer is an understatement. But further studies are

now

in the works and, as they're reported, the huge gray areas in this

field

of study will come into clearer focus. "

Dear Loretta,

Thank you for the explanation, so....what to do if you are vegan? I do not do dairy products so what would be the best way do get my flaxseeds that I grind daily. I like to put them in my smoothie. Yes, I do agree about eating foods in their most natural state that is why I eat about 90-95% raw, I love raw food. But none of us are perfect for sure and not everyday we get all that we need in the fruits & veggies department. Somedays, I can go without eating all day just about, maybe do one smoothie. Soooo, that is why I was asking about the Juice Plus+. Thank you you are a jewel!
