Many of them contain formaldehyde, which is a carcinogen. I advise all of my clients to remove all instances of toxicity in their environment, including all types of air fresheners. Instead of those plug-ins, you can use essential oils in a diffuser. I use them every day. In addition to scenting the air better, you are getting the health benefits of inhaling and absorbing the essential oil. Just make sure that it is a premium essential oil, to make sure it is pure.
