Guest guest
The cannabis plants vary as to the contents of one of their cannabinoids, THC, with the Sativa varieties much lower than the Indica variety. Industrial hemp is a sativa variety with hardly any THC and, consequently, hardly any effect on cancer cells (see Prof Manuel Guzman's research below). Rick Simpson used a variety high in THC for his hemp oil and thus his success with cancer. The info below is from the site of one of the industrial producers of hemp oil in South Africa, stressing the difference between their product and the high THC marijuana: "..Botanically, the genus Cannabis is composed of several variants. Although there has been a long-standing debate among taxonomists about how to classify these variants into species, applied plant breeders generally embrace a biochemical method to classify variants along utilitarian lines. Cannabis is the only plant genus that contains the unique class of molecular compounds called cannabinoids. Many cannabinoids have been identified, but two preponderate: THC, which is the psychoactive ingredient of Cannabis and CBD, which is an anti-psychoactive ingredient. One type of Cannabis is high in the psychoactive cannabinoid, THC and low in the anti-psychoactive cannabinoid, CBD. This type is popularly known as marijuana. Another type is high in CBD and low in THC. Variants of this type are called Industrial Hemp. In the United States, the debate about the relationship between Hemp and marijuana has been diminished by the dissemination of many statements that have little scientific support. (http://www.hemptons.co.za/info3.htm).." The following is from Rick simpson's site: "..Professor Manuel Guzmán’s research teams at Complutense University and Autonoma University in Madrid, Spain found that cannabis’ active ingredient, THC, killed tumor cells in advanced cases of glioma, a quick-killing cancer for which there is currently no effective treatment. Guzman says that the experiment, published in the March 2000 issue of Nature Medicine, tested THC at very low doses and at a late stage. He predicts that THC should work better if given earlier. Guzman's team says, “the drug …provoked a death spiral in cancer cells.” He injected the active cannabinoid compounds directly into the brain cancers after laboratory studies showed that THC killed glioma cells while leaving normal brain cells unharmed.(http://www.phoenixtears.ca/list.html).." Because of the fact that the THC oil is highly inflammable, it will be unwise to try and make the oil at home unless one knows exactly how to do it. So, Bill, before you try it, make sure you find out a lot more. You can probably contact Rick Simpson in Canada directly for more information. The THC's are removed. Also it is Hemp SEED oil. There is much more oil in the seeds than in the leaves. My one question is how long is the shelf life of the product as I just turned down my doctors recommendation after looking up the side effects of it. Thanks and thank you for being on the cancercure group! Bill Wilkins - Marc oleander soup Friday, March 14, 2008 10:08 AM Re: Hemp Seed Oil The hemp seed oil that has been used fairly successfully to cure cancer is made from the Cannabis Indica (Marijuana) plant while the oil that one can buy commercially is made from the Cannabis Sativa plant. There is a world of difference between the two. A description of the oil used for cancer can be seen on Youtube at http://youtube.com/watch?v=7kvBU70baN4 & feature=related , the Rick Simpson Story.
