Guest guest
I've tried Feverfew many times to treat and/or prevent Migraine Headaches. I even grew my own Feverfew and made my own capsules. All I did was burp parsley. I started Co-Q10 (or whatever the Hell it's called) about a month ago. When I called in my prescription refills this past week, I noticed my Darvocet bottle is still full. Ordinarily, I usually knock back 50-60 Darvocet a month for migraines, along with Imitrex and anything else that might even remotely help. Damn, looks like Co-Q10 might be the trick!! ~VOW

Guest guest
Peppermint essential oil mixed with olive oil or another carrier oil like almond oil and massaged into the scalp works absolute wonders. If you can't get a hold of peppermint essential oil, Crew conditioner for men works too, but of course that's not all natural. Guest guest
The peppermint oil suggestion is a very good one. Also, from my remedies book: Headache General Headaches: Dull a tension headache by massaging a few drops of peppermint essential oil (Mentha piperita) into your temples. Peppermint works as well as 1,000 mg of acetaminophen, the main ingredient in aspirin, according to one German study. Herb experts don't know exactly how it works, but the peppermint appears to prevent your body from sending pain signals to your central nervous system.Mix one teaspoon finely ground cinnamon (called dalchini in India) in one teaspoon water and apply on the forehead. It is very effective in headache due to exposure to cold air. Lying down, in a dark room, maybe getting a 1 to 2 hour or so of sleep will virtually always make you feel better. Migraine Headaches: A decoction of half a teaspoon mustard seeds powder and three teaspoons water, if instilled in the nostrils, redresses migraine. The juice of ripe grapes is an effective home remedy for a migraine. Dip a small towel in cold water, rinse, and apply to forehead. Once the towel gets warm, flip it to the other side, or dip it into cold water again. Sinus Headaches: For a sinus headache, eat a jalapeno pepper as soon as possible. Within minutes your sinuses should start to drain and the sinus headache should subside.A peppermint steam inhalation provides quick relief for sinus headaches. Peppermint acts as a decongestant, and the combination of warm steam and the essential oil is doubly effective for opening up the sinuses.Make a paste from dry ginger with a little water or milk, apply to the forehead for sinus reliefGrind 10-15 Basil leaves with 4 cloves and one teaspoon dried ginger into a paste and apply to forehead for sinus cure. For a painful sinus headache, try a hot footbath along with a cold compress on the foreheadMake a sinus headache pillow. 1/2 cup flax seeds 1 part crushed spearmint leaf 1 part crushed peppermint leaf 1 part lavender buds 1 part eucalyptus leaf 1 part rosemary leaf Mix all ingredients together in a bowl. Cut two pieces of material 10 x 4 inches and sew together. Making a bag, leave one end open and stuff the bag. Sew up the open end. Guest guest
1. chiropractic adjustment to the upper cervical area of the spine.2. keep your blood sugar at a steady level, preferably about 70, all day long. Adjust diet to achieve.3. Detox for excess Copper in your body. This is related to thyroid and adrenal issues. These are complex disorders which are commonly not diagnosed by run of the mill MD's. Blood tests are not sufficient indicators. An MD Endocrinologist would be more suitable. An applied clinical nutritionist would be the type of doctor most likely to fully test for and evaluate such a problem; this one also offers nutritional remedies.Michael L. Guest guest
Several of these have been mentioned. Also realize that many of these are preventative therapies. Migraines happen for a reason and getting to the root of the concern will be the most helpful in the long run. 1) Migraine headaches are almost always hormonal in nature. Saliva test hormones to get a baseline. Natural, bio-identical progesterone will help with this since it is the balancer of the hormones. And while using natural progesterone to get hormones in balance, you can also dab progesterone behind the ears as soon as a headache begins. 2) Vitamin E with mixed tocopherols and tocotrienols. Do not use synthetic Vitamin E. 3) Speaking of balancing hormones. Cleansing the liver/gallbladder/digestive tract is very important. The liver has a lot to do with hormones and keeping it clean will help with hormonal balance. 4) Stress relief techniques. Aromatherapy (place a couple of drops of eucalyptus oil or peppermint oil into palm of hand and rub hands together and then cup hands over hose and breathe deeply), listening to soothing music, learning to live in the “now.” EFT – Emotion Freedom Technique. 5) Bio-B Complex 6) Magnesium orotate. Magnesium oil rubbed on skin or in bath water. 7) Rubbing peppermint essential oil mixed with lavender oil on the back of the neck. 8) Trigger point shoulder rub with a natural pain-relief lotion. Massage therapist can help with this and also show your spouse or significant other how to perform this effectively. 9) Chiropractic. Ask your chiro to show you some techniques that will help relieve a headache. 10) Allergy relief – Sometimes migraines are caused by allergies and sinus congestion. Oregano Oil is extremely good for allergies. Take it orally placed in veggie caps. Can also mix 1 drop in 1-ounce of warm purified water. Place 2-3 drops in each nostril. Yes, it burns, but only for a few seconds. Oregano oil can also be applied to the back of the neck or forehead (be very careful of the eye area). 11) Dark room with warm (heated in oven – not microwave) rice pack or gel pack on forehead. Guest guest
Hey there Tracy. i use to suffer Migraine headaches some ten years ego, they were so bad i have to go to my doctor for an injection, then go to sleep for 3 days. what i did was, i cut down on sugar, milk, oranges, white flour and all products containing white flour, red wine, mushrooms, peanuts, bananas, and all man made products. i was eating yogurt raw foods or theirs juice, and the best of all- ( vinegar tincure of fever few leaves and flowers- Tanacetum parthenium) lavender flowers, rosemary, cinnamon, molasses, and apple cider vinegar. put all ingredients in a jar, put the jar in a hot spot for 4 weeks shaking the jar every day) Dose- 1 teaspoon 3 times a day. it took about 4 months to notice any change, but change it did, since then no more headaches, and if i get one for some reason i take my fever few and out it goes. i hope this helps you Tracy. regards Mary P.S. if the headache was to strong the dose was 10ml 3 times daily - Tracy oleander soup Wednesday, March 12, 2008 9:46 AM Migraine Headaches Does anyone know of a good natural remedy for Migraine Headaches? Guest guest
All of these ideas seem generally ok, with the exception of item 1). Hormones, including bioidenticals, are grossly prescribed and mis-used. Progesterone cremes and estrogen cremes cause an accumulation of the hormones in fat tissues in the body. DO NOT USE HORMONES WITHOUT CONSULTING AN EXPERT! Family practice MD's, and OB/GYN's create very complex cases of hormone imbalances that it takes doctors like us months or years to undue the damage and return a woman's hormone balance and cycles again to normalcy - for the lucky ones that ever reach on of us that can correct the problems. The causes of headaches:1) muscle tension - associated w/ postural stress syndrome and emotion distress2) blood sugar3) high blood pressure4) allergies5) vascular restriction - clogged arteries, pressures on arteries, nervous control problem6) overstimulation w/ light and sound7) fatigue8) depressed thyroid and adrenal function9) other steroid hormone disorders10) copper toxicity is the most common marker for patients with migraine headaches. Unless the copper is chelated out of the body, remedies just mask the symptoms copper toxicity creates.11) infection (fever)12) a tumor inside the head & 13) the obvious one - bumping your head!A misdiagnosis of migraine is common. A bad headache is not a migraine. A series of bad headaches is not a migraine. Migraines are one hemisphere, completely debilitating headaches. An aura almost always precedes the event; the individual knows it is beginning to happen. There is nausea. There is narrowing of the visual field. Light and sound aggravates the headaches severely. The visual field may actually completely fade to blindness. It is not uncommon for a migraine sufferer to vomit several dozen times each day. Michael L.
