Guest guest
Copy of an email received today....... Dear Chris, When you signed the Grow Organics petition this summer, you showed your commitment to healthy, affordable organic produce. Now organic farms are at stake again. Do you part for organics and a fair Farm Bill. Take a few minutes to email or call your senators today and ask them to support the " Grassley-Dorgan " amendment to the Farm Bill (S.A. 3500). Right now, Senators Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) and Byron Dorgan (D- North Dakota) are putting forward a bipartisan amendment that will ensure the rich stop getting richer. Under the current broken system, people can get unlimited government subsidies. This amendment will put a stop to that. The " Grassley-Dorgan " payment limit amendment will: Support local farmers markets and community-supported agriculture Assist farmers converting to organic Prevent mega-farms from getting millions of your tax dollars by capping payments at $250,000 per farm Put more healthy, U.S.-grown organic food on your family's table by clicking here.... http://senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm Call your senators today to ask them to support the " Grassley-Dorgan " amendment to the Farm Bill -- so we can support production of grow more organic food right here in America. http://senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm It's good for farmers, good for consumers, and good for the environment. The 2007 Farm Bill could do it all, but time is running out for reform. The " Grassley-Dorgan " amendment will put America on a new course for family farm and food policy. Call your senators today and ask them to support the " Grassley- Dorgan " amendment to the Farm Bill (S.A. 3500). This is our last chance. Let's not let Congress leave organics behind. Sincerely, Ken Cook President Environmental Working Group Contact your senators today!
