The list is dreadfully undernourished, with half the properties of each herb missing. This was simply a bow of the head....and then on with the business at hand. I wasn't impressed. " MY COMMENTS: I agree completely. The list does not come close to meriting the title of " 55 Best Herbal Remedies " . It would be more accurate, in my opinion, to call the list " The 55 Herbal Remedies Most Acceptable to Mainstream Medicine. " " Integrative medicine " and " certified naturopathic doctor " sound encouraging, but in reality they are often just terms that mean mainstream medicine has given a token and deceptive nod to herbal and other alternative medicines without really offering significant alternatives to the same old system of managed illness. Just because a patient has a doctor who practices integrative medicine, or who is a " certified " naturopath does not mean that they are getting the best advice or treatment that nature has to offer. Despite the best efforts of the big pharma industry and their FDA underlings, it has been impossible to continue to deny the benefits that nature offers in nutrition and healing. An answer of sorts appears to be " integrative medicine " and " certified naturopaths " who APPEAR to incorporate herbal and alternative medicines, but in actuality are only taught and allowed to prescribe a limited number of " approved " alternative treatments. As a result, patients are usually steered away from the more potent and more effective alternative treatments and steered into the same old failed system of managed care, replete with unnecessary surgeries, ineffective and dangerous chemo and radiation and a lifetime of escalating drugs which neither cure nor prevent chronic illness, but instead lead to more chronic illnesses and more drugs. Like most of allopathic medicine when it comes to treating disease and chronic illness - it is a great model for profit and a horrible one for humanity. oleander soup , robert-blau wrote: > > The 55 Best Herbal Remedies > by Michael Castleman, Natural Health > > Not long ago, American herbalists had to rely on folklore and anecdote. > There was little clinical data on herbs, and what did exist was mostly > published in German.
