Question about Oleander cooking fumes.

Hi,

I've been thinking for some time about trying to grow and then brew up

some of the oleander soup. I live in Missouri so we don't have

oleander around these here parts. I'll have to start from scratch.

However, I have a rather odd question. I have an amazon parrot and

they are very susceptible to fumes. Many common cleaners and

disinfectants are deadly to them.

I know oleander, in its raw form, is poisonous. So what will the

fumes from the cooking be like? Anyone have any ideas if the fumes

will be safe around my bird or will I need to rig up some sort of hot

plate to cook the oleander outside?

Just something I have to think about when experimenting with new stuff

on the stove.

No way of really knowing, but it would be a good idea to cook in a well ventilated room to begin with. Can your parrot be moved to another room perhaps? Most common cleaners, disinfectants and other household chemicals are not good for us either - we just tolerate them somewhat better than your parrot.
