Guest guest
Janna - What toxic reaction are you referring to? From OS or an oleander extract or from raw oleander? I have searched far and wide and have been unable to find one single incidence of toxic reaction to properly prepared oleander soup, the patented medicine Anvirzel or the herbal supplements made by Takesun do Brasil. Nor have I ever heard of a single report of a serious side effect from any of the above. One cancer sufferer did report a lot of pain when taking a combination of OS and a couple of the supplements, but that was later decided to be likely due more to the extent of the cancer that had metastisized from the prostate to the bones. The ONLY reports of oleander toxicity that I can find, and there are several, are all related to ingestion of raw oleander - and yes, raw oleander is very toxic. That is why it is so important to handle it properly when prep[aring OS. But when properly boiled, condensed and strained it is quite a different story. As I said, not a single serious adverse reaction that I know of. Not one! Compare that to just about any pharmaceutical product on the market! This was on the Sloan_Kettering web site. I understand that many people are threatened with natural products. Just to be sure I talked with the people at Phoenix Bio Tech, the people who produce the oleander for the clinic in Honduras that sells Anvirzel. He said that the only problem with cooking it yourself was not knowing exactly how much one was getting with any given dose. But, I am not going to quit. Anyway those were the results of my search. Guest guest
Tony, Thank you for the information. I do appreciate getting a better understanding of what I am ingesting. And, yes, it is a very quiet group. I hope that more people try this and we can get more dialogue going. I really feel that one has to educate oneself, or we are just letting other people do to us. That may be the state of medicine in this country, but it is not healthy living. Do you feel that it makes a big difference using vodka or apple cider vinegar as the preservative? I used the vodka, but I have beeen wondering about that. Of course, I would have to cook another batch to change it now. But, I may try it differently in the future. Guest guest
Sandy, Sorry to hear about your friends. I guess I am being the guinea pig for my family. I had breast cancer five years ago. Currently, my younger sister is going through radiation after surgery and chemo for breast cancer as well(she is 12 years younger than me) and my sister in law was just diagnosed with non-alcoholic Hepatitus C. My mother and three of my uncles died of cancer. I just want to be able to turn the tide. What a batch of testimonials that will be! Guest guest
Sandy, I used a 2 gallon blue enamel pan - from Walmart, filled it with clippings, about eight or ten six inch long cuttings, which on the average, kept them about two inches from the top. These I covered with water. The boiling part took a long time - getting it to where it was a slow boil without boiling too fast. Had to escape for a while - the smell was not terrible, but distinct, and bothersome. I would get two of the twenty oz bottles. When you cut the mixture in half with the apple cider vinegar, you will get more than you realize. I guess I will use what I have with the vodka and make some more when this plant starts to produce more leaves. It looks pretty bare at the moment. Glad you are doing this, too. Good Luck, Janna
