Can a peach Kill you?

This is really a health alert and request for additions to this so the

word can get out. I accidentally ran into this problem, let me tell you how

that happened. First, I eat 8 halves of dried apricot that were soaking in

distilled water over night. I was very hungry so I eat them fairly fast and

before I could swallow the second group of 4 at a time, I could barely

breathe. I began coughing to shake the sudden lack of my lungs, and luckily

I had an inhaler on had to shake the closing down of my air ways. I didn't

know what happened but was quite worried about it. I went to work, and a kid

(age 9) was there at my job site. I told him, about my problem hoping for

some sympathy and he told me it was peaches that did the same thing to him.

Peaches! I said, really? Yes he said, it was very scary. Then only this

morning I was telling a friend and she said it happened right in front of

her. A friend of hers was eating a peach and she just collapsed. She was

grasping for air, so my friend tried administering CPR but it was no use.

Her lungs just froze up and did not work again, killing her.

What is going on here I wonder. All of us had eaten these fruits before, now

it is killing us? I think this is a matter of further investigations, don't

you. Please add to this thread if you know what is going on. Like, should I

have the apricots tested, but, how much would that cost I wonder? Who has

money to have their food tested, not me. Any free labs out there?

Sincerely making my first post here, Michael

my husband has reactions like this to many foods. he drank nutmeg in eggnog and his throat closed up. apple skins also do it. sometimes just spices in foods do it. he doesnt know why... he was a preemie so he has lots of little wierd health things.

first off, Id say you shouldnt be eating that many peaches at once! you will get diahrrea! lol...

but really... did you consume the peach skins?

if so then I suggest you try peaches without skins, and just one peach at a time.

( stop trying to swallow whole peaches... lol... sorry couldnt resisit)

Unless those apricots you gobbled down were organic, I'll bet it was the sulfites they were sprayed with that gave you this reaction. Were the apricots a nice orange color? If so, they were sprayed with sulfites to keep them from turning brown. Get the organic ones (they are an unapetizing brown color) next time. You had a really scarey reaction to this! ~Amber
