Dear group members:

I am new to posting in this egroup. For those of you who do not

know me, I should perhaps mention that I have no commercial agenda

in anything I may post to this egroup. I am not selling anything

whatsoever. My prior post, which mentions Jomar Labs amino acid

products, is simply the most affordable source that I have found on

the net for such products. I am not associated with this company in

any way... other than being a customer from time to time.

If you are interested in a natural approach to bipolar disorder, the

following are some book and net references that might be helpful to

you:

1. A free ebook from www.thewayup.com called " The Way Up From Down "

by Priscilla Slagle, M.D. This book is an old classic and a bit out

of date... but it is absolutely brilliant and a great and easy

read. This book greatly helps someone to conceptually understand

the natural approach in regard to changing neurotransmitter levels,

etc. However, it's amino acid advice is somewhat obsolete.

2. " Depression Cured At Last " by Sherry Rogers, M.D. This book can

be found on www.prestigepublishing.com For those that like to read

Sherry Rogers goes into depth. Sherry Rogers was my greatest

teacher, despite her not knowing how to use the tremendous

therapuetic power of amino acids at all. Her written work really

helps a layperson to understand the chemistry of the human body

better. It also helps someone to understand the common problematic

gut issues that often underlie biochemical (and thus

neurotransmitter) deficiency.

Both of the above authors, despite being medical doctors, are not

med oriented at all. They both trash the orthodox medical

establishment for the way it deals with depression, and they do so

in a very logical and understandable fashion.

3. " The Mood Cure " by Julia Ross. This book represents a bit of an

update on the use amino acids vs. that of Dr. Slagle. It's

inhibitory nutrient regime nearly mirrors mine. However, the

recommendation in this book of simply using tyrosine or a tyrosine

phenylalanine amino acid combination for excitatory results is the

same as Dr. Slagle's... and there are much better answers available

than this at the current time.

If someone puts together concepts and ideas from the above three

books this would be a good start. Unfortunately, it takes more than

one book.

4. The main website on the net for alternative therapy for mental

conditions is www.alternativementalhealth.com

Incidentally, I do have an old article in the " Articles " section of

the above website in its bipolar section. This might be worth a look

at as well. It is called " Natural Treatment of Manic Depression

Explained " by Allen Darman. Unfortunately, I do not have either

adequate web skills or enough $$ to upgrade this website at the

present time.

I sincerely hope that some of the above is useful to some persons in

this egroup in some way.

Allen
