Guest guest
Can any of you tell me of the effects of switching baby formulas, My granddaughter was on infamil with iron, and because she was having a little colic, her mother started using soy. The gas seemed to get worse, and very smelly gas. She got the various formulas as samples, and does not understand completely. She is from another country and "does things differently" there. She and my son are living with us at the moment, and we are having some friction over this matter. What matters to me is the health of my granddaughter. I don't want to over step my boundaries, but I am very concerned about this matter. She does not ask the doctor questions, and because I went with her the first two visits, and did ask, and he directed his answers more to me she felt very upset. Last visit she went alone. My son is in the middle of this. It is getting very stressful. She is breastfeeding intermittently, and I know the doctor said one or the other. Either breast or bottle. She resents it when I ask how much she is eating, and if she cries, and I say anything she gets mad in her way of just closing me out, I need some suggestions. Do I just stay quiet and hope for the best, or is the baby in any kind of jeopardy. Thanks, Judy
Guest guest
Judy, Breastfeeding is always best! It is not harmful to switch between breast and formula, But just please tell her not to use a soy based formula. I learned last year (after raising 2 girls on it) that soy formula has like 10x the estrogen content of soy milk! Both my girls, now 10 and 12, started puberty very early (btween 8-9 years). I don't know if it was from the soy formula or a combination of factors, but I wouldn't take the chance! Guest guest
I wish I could talk to her about this, but it is no use she will not listen to me and is very stubborn. I did read about the early puberty problem. I am hoping that if my son talks to the doctor that will help. As you most likely can tell we have some other issues here. Thanks for your input. Guest guest
Judy, Maybe if you printed her some articles out from the internet she would be more receptive. If that doesn't work, there is nothing you can do. It is her baby and ,therefore, her decision. Guest guest
Right you are. My son did talk with the doctor and friends at work and all agreed she should not be changing back and forth. Oh please grant me some patience.----- Monday, January 17, 2005 4:56 PM Re: baby formulas Judy, Maybe if you printed her some articles out from the internet she would be more receptive.
