Guest guest Posted January 2, 2005 Report Share Posted January 2, 2005 The numbers of those suffering from cancer of the esophagus has risen by 66% in the UK over the last 30 years, whereas in countries like China and Japan, where not as many fizzy drinks are consumed, there has been no rise. Researchers found a significant correlation between the 2 rising trends. Interestingly, they broke consumption down to minutes of acid exposure - found that an average soda drinker has over 32,000 more minutes of acid exposure per year. Throat cancer is a particularly hard cancer to beat--more than 90 % of patients with invasive esophageal cancer die within five years of diagnosis. Dentally, this exposure would have to affect the teeth - and ultimately one's total resistive capacity.
