I would ask my son if he is going to be able to get up and go to work with sleep deprivation when the baby is born

stimulated by caffiein and won't sleep through the night and if he is looking forward to a very cranky wife suffering from sleep deprevation who doesn't want to give him any and hand him so scientific material about the effects of caffien and never open my mouth again. However, when they are exhausted and tired because they ignore you while she's pregnant from sleep deprevation, I'd have a copy of that previously delivered caffien information, hand it to them, look into their eyes and don't say a word.

You might also want to notify them now that you will not be available for sleep deprivation baby sitting while they sleep when they will be the cause of the sleeplessness because of her caffien addiction that she did not control while pregnant but if she stops her intake of caffien soon enough that the baby won't be going through withdrawal at birth if not being continued to recieve the caffien through the breastmilk that you will be willing to help take care of the baby if s/he has sleeplessness.

Give them the information and let them make up their own minds and be responsible for handling the consequences.

Thank you,

Dr. Sandra Lance, D.C.

She eats alot of chocolate now and I rememeber that chocolate is not good for nursing mothers. I know she will do what she want to do, and being the mother-in-law, I don't want to overstep my boundries.

Sandra, I'm not dogging you or anything, but your post sounds detrimental making the persons reading have a negative view about chocolate and the way it will affect an individual.

Have we asked ourselves why she is eating chocolate? I'm sure she knows what she is doing. Is it only here in the US that we think eating chocolate while pregnant is not a good thing? There are many countries that do things quite differently than ours while being pregnant (and we should learn from them), who are we to say they don't know what they're doing. We need to remember what we should and shouldn't say, the US is NOT the healthiest culture around. We tend to take synthetic drugs that have adverse side effects and then take another drug to offset those effects and before we know it our body is all messed up. Not just drugs either, processed foods, and tons of it. What is better for your body? A food that's been bleached of all it's nutrients that does who knows what to your system or one that's fresh and retains all the natural properties of the vitamins and such we need? Let's not question how another country eats. Her body may be lacking a much needed nutrient during pregnancy. Maybe she doesn't even like chocolate, who doesn't, but when your body is asking for something, don't bereave it. I've seen women crave grapefruit during pregnancy who absolutely abhor the fruit but ate it anyway. Why? Over in Indonesia, you can ground papaya seeds to combat intestinal worms. Brilliant idea!! Better than taking a chemical drug that will ruin the body. Now I'm sure if a study was to be conducted about eating papaya seeds the outcome would say that wouldn't be healthy. But I'm not cognizant of people dropping over dead there. How about when we first heard years ago that avocados and eggs were bad for our health. How are they doing now? I can go on and on but who really wants take the time and read all the causerie I've posted. One thing I do keep asking myself is has scientific study replaced logic? Who was is that said "logic is pure genius"? If you REALLY want to know if chocolate is a bad thing for her, ask the South Americans. Different land, different culture, different way of life.

your welcome

I found oatmeal & alfalfa was good for breast mild production-just like it is for the cows.

And shave grass & oat straw tea good for avoiding stretchmarks-good with peppermint tea.

Carob covered almolds and other goodies from the health food store-raspberry can't thnk fo the name of those candy bars- health for the chocolate substitute would also be yummy that any pregnant daughter in law would be grateful to recieve.

Also, pain during childbirth is supposed tobe less painful if the mother is well rested and less likely to require c-section-can't rest as well on caffein.
