Guest guest
Lil, It sounds to me like this woman doesn’t want to try anything other than the quick fix drugs. Rolaids and Tums have ruined her digestive system. She doesn’t do well with enzymes and probiotics?? Perhaps because she was going through detox when using them? She’s allergic to algae?? That’s not possible. I don’t know much about aloe vera, but algae I know! It is not possible to be allergic to algae because there are no " allergens " present. Since algae crosses the blood/brain barrier, it has no need really to be " digested” in the usual way that food is, it will appear in the blood as nutrients, and is 98% assimilable. (Now, I am talking about the algae known as aphanizomenon flos aquae (AFA) – the other kinds I don’t know. Maybe it depends on which kind she took.) So allergies aren't really the issue. But cleansing sure can be. Most people are not used to such powerful food like AFA. Such a reaction undoubtedly points to some digestive needs that should be addressed by enzymes and probiotics first. If you take algae first without adequately preparing your system for the natural detoxification process (which is actually desirable), you will have detox symptoms. She NEEDS plant-based enzymes and probiotics!! Maybe switch to higher quality enzymes and probiotics. If she was my client, I would monitor her very carefully and watch what results she gets, and continually change the dose until she’s comfortable. May take a while – natural stuff always takes longer than a drug. Carol " Lupo " <lupo Natural Remedies for GRD? Can anyone suggest a protocol for a woman in her 50s, no previous history of severe digestive problems -- but who has chewed Rolaids or Tums several times a week for " indigestion " -- who now suddenly has bouts of intense acidic reflux, particularly at night. I have told her to take enzymes and probiotics - but she says she " doesn't do well " with them, by which I think she means diarrhea and gas...But I was wondering if there is something else to suggest? She eats very carefully, but she says no matter what she eats, a cracker or a pizza, she has the same results. Also she is " allergic " to aloe vera and " green foods " such as algae. She does not eat dairy. I am at a loss - please advise. Treating it by further reducing stomach acid only makes it worse, as the acid levels are then induced to fluctuate. GERD is a vomit response caused by hypochlorhydria. When there's enough stomach acidity the contents discharge properly into the duodenum rather than up into the esophagus. The treatment is to use betaine HCl or glutamic acid to help acidify the stomach contents with each meal, and stop taking the damn TUMS. Not treating it correctly results in poor digestion, as the acid is required for it. Insuffcient stomach acid results in an incomplete kill of bacteria one eats, thus a repeated inoculation of bowel culture with these bacteria, probable bowel dysbiosis which leads lead to improper mineral absorption, osteoporosis, aggravation of environmental sensitivities, allergic response, leaky gut, toxin- aggravated disorders such as arthritis, crohn's, colitis, candida and cancer. regards, Duncan Crow
