Here's the problem:

Although the PRD has a form in the back for physicians to report back to the manufacturers the effectiveness of medications after they are released for the public use,

doctors aren't going to do that to protect themselves from malpractice. When I reported many side effects and withdrawal symptoms I observed in my Mother, Alma Virginia SAnders, before her suicide, the passive agressive avoidance behaiovr I exhibited was extensive. They care more about their own bank accounts than the lives of their patients. The evidence that will be examined by the FDA will not include the statistic of my Mother commiting suicide on the antidepressants because it hasn't been collected and documented. The FDA failed to protect the public in the first place and wouldn't want to admit their intentional or unintentional enabling antidepressant manufacturers to commit gegnocide against the public. Anyone that is, please excuse my language, stupid enough to believe that a drug that will cause one segment of the population, the children, to commit suicide and won't cause another segment, non-pediatric, to commit suicide needs to have their mind examined. Notice there is no talk about another more sensitive segment of the population: geriatric. When I read the PRD's test studies for the drugs that were tested before distribution that were being prescribed to my Mother before her suicide the percentage that were included in the test studies of the geriatric population were less than the % of geriatrics in the population as a whole. This is obviously to conceal the negative effects that could be caused in this sensitive population. Take into consideration that the drugs that are being tested are singularly while after ther drugs are released for the public they are prescribed in a never ending experimental combinations based on subjective observation of behavior with no objective tests to support their use in combinations not tested and approved by the FDA. Some of the drugs that my Mother was prescribed were tested for people with seizures which my Mother never had. After they were put on the market the psychiatrists decided they'd use that drug for "bipolar" when that drug was never tested by the FDA for that alleged malady. Mother was never told she was bipolar. She mentioned to me that she didn't know she'd been diagnosed as bipolar until she realized she'd been prescribed the same drug, Depakote, that had been prescribed to my sister whose behavior on the drugs is what got her so worried that she'd gone to the mental health center for counseling in dealing with her and that is how they got her onto their drugs. Depakote is especially profitable because a blood test has to be done every 3 months to evaluate them for liver failure that can still happen in 3 days without notice.

Gotta go.

Listen to the first two hours of my broadcasts on

Highway2Health.net for more details of how the psychiatrists

resfused to inform me of her medication changes so I'd not be alerted to the increased incidence of suicide while she was going to them every month commiting suicide not taking her cancer medication for the cancer that may have ben caused by the antidepressants after she decided not to jump off the Tennessee River Bridge.

The passive agressive avoidance behavior I'm referring to was exhibited by the psychiatrists violating her civil rights refusing to honor her wishes that I be provided timely notices of her medication changes in violation of her Authorization to Release Medical Information. They didn't tell me they weren't going to fax me the medication changes that I needed to ensure medication compliance and report back to them the effectiveness of their prescriptions. They just didn't fax them and I'd not know it until Mother would remmeber to tell me they'd been changed about a month or so later. I have found a fax that they sent me where I'd made a list of side effects I was observing in her behavior asking them to simply mark "yes" or "no" if the drugs they were precribing could cause the symptoms I was observing (stumbling gait, cognitive dysfunction, somlence, and of course, the "depression" that they were allegedly treating that was also a side effect listed in the PDR). The psychiatrist wrote on the margin that the drugs could cause any of them and the side effects would be greater when the medications were being changed. I believe this is why they vioalted her wishes that I be faxed directly her medication changes so I would not be alerted to the increased incidence of side effects. Of course, the worse passive agressive avoidance behavior was when the head of the psychiatry department at the University of Alabama, Huntsville, Dr. Vasavada, threatened not to let me visit Mother in the hospital after I'd insisted that she go (not to the "Behavior Health/Psyche Ward) because her memory was so impaired she couldn't rememeber if she'd taken her insulin and I was afraid she'd take two by mistake and go into insulin shock with double insulin spiraling down the blood sugar) when she should have been being evaluated by an internist. He refused to honor her request that I be allowed to be with them during the counseling sessions so we could get some help in handling the family issues and worse of all, refused to even let her sign an Authorization to Release Medical Information while he started Seroquel. If you read about Seroquel you will see that they have documented an increased incidence of breast cancer in laboratory animals. At that time Aunt Sara was dying of breast cancer after we'd lost Grandmother, Aunt Doris and my cousin, Linda to cancer. Sara died in July 1999. Mother's 10 cm breast tumor was diagnosed August 1999. IF Dr. Vasavada had not violated Mother's wishes that I be informed of the drugs she was being prescribed and I'd been able to read about the drugs she was being prescribed while I was visiting her in the hospital with their PRD (Physician's Desk Referenece) I can assure you that she would not have taken a known carcinogen with informed consent. The bottom line, even if Congress holds hearings to evaluate the incidence of suicide in adults, there stastics will not include Alma Virginia Sanders as one of antidepressant's suicide victims. I'm sure there are more that will not be included in their data. There is no methodical means of gathering the actual effectiveness of medications once they are approved by the FDA and the prescribing M.D.'s aren't documenting if the drugs they are prescribing are causing side effects because they would be documenting gounds for malpractice. This is the flaw of the entire prescription industry and why it is one of the leading causes of death and disablity in America. We can never wait for the government to actually protect our health as well as we can manage our own health and that of our families. The best defense against becoming entangled in a health care system that is rewarded financially for failing to keep people well is to arm yourself with information and make wise health care choices on a daily basis. MEdical care can be a great help if used with knowledge with a cooperative doctor. I home that those of you who are reading this this far will make sure you start asking your aging parents about all the names of all their doctors and all the medications they are prescribed. Start asking when they are going to the doctor and what was the result of that visit. AND GET A MEDICAL POWER OF ATTORNEY OR WHATEVER LEGAL DOCUMENTY YOU RESEARCH THAT IS NEEDED, so that if your aging parent going into the hospital ESPECIALLY IF THEY ARE NOT MARRIED someone has the legal right to have access to their medical records. Once they are in a state of crisis and perhaps not able to sign a legal document you have absolutely no legal right to even visit your parent in the hospital or have copies of their records. Another trick that the hospitals pull that is to protect them from malpractice is not to give you any medical records until the patient is released so that you have no way to get, for example, copies of their medications while they are being prescribed to them. They want time to get the records cleaned up in risk manament before they might let you have them without too much passive agressive avoidance hehavior refusint to give them to you. Their risk managment was more important to them than my attempts to be informed of her health care and have records of it to show the other health care providers to whom I took her for help. Another problem was their refusing to let me have copies of the financial records she was supposed to sign to be admitted or even a copy of a release she was required to sign before a proceedure was performed giving them permission to perform the proceedure having been informed that the proceedure could kill or disable her. I decided then that if they we're willing to give us a copy of something she was expected to sign, she wasn't going to sign it. It's too easy to change a document after it has your signature on it and if you don't have the original you have no proof that it wasn't changed after your signature was put on the document. Probably more than you ever wanted to know. Personally, I think anyone going to a doctor's appointment except for routine visits should have a tape recorder so that they can remember what was said and review it afterwards to better educate yourself about the treatment being recommended. I'm am only writing this as a daughter of a suicide victim, my Mother. Nothing in this e-mail is giving legal or medical advice or offered as myself as a Doctor of Chiropractic. Don't wait until their is a crisis for the family to be involved in the aging parent's health care management. Go with them to all their doctor's appointments at least once so that that doctor knows that your parent has an adult child who is looking over their shoulder regarding the treatment recommended. This is much better than first meeting your parent's doctors in the waiting room of a hospital who is giving you notice of life threatening conditions, etc. Sandra Lance, D.C. P.S. Listen to the first two hours archived for my weekly internet broadcast Thursday nights on www.Highway2Health.net . That's how long it took me to get most, not all, of the hell I went through while trying to find my Mother some actual health care for the diabetes, heart disease, cancer and "bipolar" her body had deteriorated into courtesy of the taxpayer through Medicare/BC/BS/personal assets. IF that's the best the government can do for "health care" when there were no financial restrictions on her health care, this is all the more reason to study about how to best take case of your own health by informing yourself such as through mediums such as health and healing to try to avoid getting snared into a health care system that doesn't keep you well. My goal is to never file a Medicare claim or take advantage of that new drug benefit Congress passed with their concerns for medication coverage financing pharmaceutical companies that make substantial campaign contributions to keep them in office. Living in a very sick environment that the FDA has failed to protect the public from requires more that just trying to avoid getting dependent upon the medical industrial complex exhausting your assets requires more than just trying to avoid it. Taking the initiative to inprove your health and avoid getting sick inthe first place is your best line of defense. Don't ever expect the FDA or any government or medical establish to care more about your actual health than you do. Each day we make lifestyle choices that we will have to live with. It's a dicipline that is often not as sociable as eating, drinking and smoking like the rest of our society gulping down their antidepressants with aspertame soft drinks that cause depression, etc. I'm not saying no one should ever take psychotrophic drugs, of course. I'm sure many people have been helped by them. But I'm sure from my experiences with my Mother that even if Congress holds hearings regarding suicide rates for adults taking antidepressants those stastics will be flawed because the FDA doesnt' protect the public by taking consistent data on the effectiveness, side effects and withdrawal symptoms of the drugs they have approved usually with a test period of about 6 weeks. Make sure you get the printout from the PRD for any drug you are taking and look at how long it was tested before being put on the market. If you are being prescribed that drug longer than it was tested by the FDA before approval, aren't you being used as a medical experiment that wasn't tested before it was approved?
