Guest guest
Hi there, Well, shingles need to be diagnosed within a short period of time, something like 3 days, to be treated with a medication. If it goes longer, then I think you have to ride them out, like you are. I got them back in the 80's and went in to the Dr telling him I had them, so I got the medication. Very itchy and painful, huh? Shingles are the ol chicken pox virus that lies dormant in your body and gets triggered by some factor. They say it's triggered under malnutrition, cancer, and so on..but, it must have been stress, for me.Usually shingles run along the midline of the body and do not cross to the other side of the body..stopping at the belly button midline to the back. I guess you just have to treat the symptoms now, the pain, with pain medication..and the itching (if present) with benedryl or antihistamines, cortisone cream, etc. Interesting age breakdown of shingles. Had not heard of that. I got mine in my 30's. Lor greetings from NW Arkansas.... I have been "putting up with" SHINGLES for about a month.. They are on my neck, midriff, hips, and some on my ankles... I read that 1 out of 10 women over age 50 ( I am 84) get Shingles,, so there should be a lot of general info out about this sitaution. I have not seen anyone about this, and no prescription, so what is the current thinking about SHINGLES???? Thanks for your reply....
