Some people are sensitive to ozone - and one very nice feature of our units is that the ozone mechanism can be adjusted or turned entirely off (impossible with the sharper image ionic breeze and others) Ozone is a fantastic odor- eliminator, which is particularly nice for pet owners or anyone who likes to cook (we love fish and broccoli - but we don't like the odors lingering afterward) . I have done quite a bit of research on the internet to get as much of an unbiased opinion as possible about the benefits of ozone and ionization and there are multiple resources, including news articles, discussing the health benefits of both. Ozone therapy has been used worldwide to treat all sorts of diseases. I would encourage those who are interested in investing in an air purifier to research the subject for yourselves. The Living Air Classic has been around for almost 20 years and the inventor of it (Bill Converse) remains very involved in research and development at EcoQuest. Our home air purifiers are compact , durable, low-maintenance, energy efficient , quiet and many people I have personally spoken with say that their machines have lasted them 10, 12 years. An important thing to keep in mind is that there is a world of difference between an air purifier and an air filter. The EcoQuest purifiers are designed to purify the ENTIRE home environment (we have models that do varying home sizes) as opposed to individual rooms. This is accomplished through the technologies I mentioned above in combination with a very quiet fan, and with the natural flow of air currents in your home. Filters are usually very noisy, expensive (the filters are costly) and difficult to maintain - and they only "suck" a small portion of air in a room through the filter. We are all breathing easier and we do get ill less often. We are not suffering the effects of the mold that was plaguing us.
