Research Update

July 29, 2004

Dear Friends and Valued Customers,

The big news in the country right now is that cholesterol levels in

humans should be even lower than had previously been determined. The

American Heart Association journal Circulation listed new

guidelines.

In the past, cardiologists believed that for very high-risk patients,

LDL (“bad”) cholesterol levels should be 100 or lower. The new

guidelines lower the bar to 70. That means millions more would be added

to the list of those taking cholesterol-lowering drugs, and those

already taking the drugs would need larger doses.

Today, some are questioning whether or not raising dosage levels of the

drugs is such a good idea. They believe there may be side effects that

would not be healthy. Which leads us to a study that showed the

commonly-used drug atorvastatin lowering CoQ10 levels in test subjects.

As always, I wish you the very best of health,

blood glucose, triglyceride, total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, and

LDL cholesterol levels in people with Type II diabetes.
