Guest guest
Infertility Treatment Impacts On Oral Health Chronic bacterial infections in periodontal diseases may affect reproduction success and the outcome of infertility treatment, according to a study published in the recent edition of the Journal of Periodontology.Researchers found that women undergoing ovulation induction for infertility treatment for more than three menstrual cycles experience higher gingival inflammation, bleeding and gingival crevicular fluid (GCF). GCF is a fluid that contains enzymes and tissue breakdown products that have been examined as potential markers for the progression of periodontitis. Dr Cenk M Haytac of Cukurova University in Turkey, said, ‘These effects are presumably correlated with the increased levels of progesterone and oestrogen. Gingiva is a target tissue for oestrogen since it contains specific high-affinity oestrogen receptors.’ Jerry Mittelman, DDS, FAPM = = = Reply with your po box or street address to get a free copy of The Holistic Dental Digest PLUS - jmittelman What dentists aren't likely to learn in dental school.
