Hi Carol,

You are correct that these carbohydrates can ALL be made in our

bodies from glucose, which we get too much of in our diets. The

problem is that there are so many toxins in our bodies that interfere

with the many stages of the process, and with the other chemicals

involved in changing glucose to the other 7, that MOST of the time,

our bodies do not make them, or get halfway there and quit because of

something in the way or something missing. In cases of people who

are very sick, or who have health challenges, this is particularly

true. If people have digestive trouble, they especially need help

because they cannot process glucose into the other 7.

Just as most of us take vitamins to make sure we get enough of them,

I take the essential carbohydrates to make sure I'm getting them,

because without them, the cells cannot communicate and do their jobs

properly. There is lots of research that shows what happens if even

one of them is not produced in enough quantity. If just one is

missing or in short supply we will exhibit symptoms of arthritis,

memory loss, allergies, or will have immune failures. It has been

shown that getting enough of these nutrients will boost the immune

system dramatically. Especially for those with health challenges,

they need to supplemement their diets with these 8 nutrients while

they are healing.

A few of my friends started taking Ambrotose because they were

getting sick all the time. As soon as they quit, they got every cold

and flu that came along. So they started taking it again and were so

impressed with how they felt, they are now sharing it with others.

Taking Ambrotose provides the best foundation for your diet that you

can possibly get. If the body is missing one, it trys to function

like a 3-legged chair. It can limp along, but it might not feel

good. It has been proven that the cells cannot communicate with

these nutrients. They combine in different strings of them around

the cells and that is how a T-cell knows whether to kill a cell or

leave it alone because it is one of it's own. If the cell can't

speak to the T-cell, it will start killing it's own cells and we get

auto-immune disorders. Once the 8 nutrients are available in enough

quantity, they start communicating again and all it well.

I used to have arthritis so bad I couldn't walk, but once I started

taking this, my hips are fine. I used to have horrible allergies of

every kind, but now I am not even allergic to cats anymore. I used

to have a terrible memory and concentration, but now my head is clear

and able to think. I didn't change anything else in my diet or my

supplements, so the Ambrotose has to be doing something good!

Check out the research again on http://www.glycoscience.com.

Harper's Biochemistry textbook will also back up my claim that these

are essential to good health. Yes, the body can make them, if it is

working properly, not toxic, and getting just the right diet of food.

These days, however, that is a rare if not impossible state to

achieve. That is why I take do take many supplements to provide me

with the other 45 essential nutrients you mentioned. I just don't

think it's possible to get enough of the essential nutrients from my

diet, as good as it is.

What are you taking to make sure you have enough of the 8 essential

carbhohydrates? Is your immune system working perfectly, have you

any health challenges even though you get the other 45 nutrients?

Besides clearing up my head, getting rid of my allergies,

strengthening my nails, skin and hair, balancing my hormones,

eliminating my arthritis symptoms, Ambrotose has also strengthened my

immune system so that I never get sick.

Warm Regards,

Terri

The 8 ESSENTIAL CARBOHYDRATES in Ambrotose are:

Glucose

Galactose

Mannose (this is the nutrient in Aloe Vera that provides such

dramatic healing properties)

Fucose

Xylose

N-Acetylglucosamine (if this is missing, you get arthritis symptoms)

N-Acetylneuraminic Acid

N-Acetylgalactosamine

These are also the way the body's blood is structured. People with

different blood types have these nutrients formed in different

patterns. Sounds pretty essential to me!

RE: 8 Essential Carbohydrates - Ambrotose

Terri,

Essential carbs? (Mannatech calls them essential because it's essential

to the sale of the product, perhaps?) Essential means that your body

can't make them and you have to get them from food. Just look at

glucose ... the idea that we have to get glucose in our diet because we

can't make it or can't make enough of it is ... well, not correct. It's

the basic fuel for our cells -- blood glucose levels are normally

maintained within the relatively narrow range of 70-110 mg per 100 mL.

That happens whether or not we get glucose in our diet, whether or not

we eat at all. All sorts of things can be converted to glucose by our

liver, including amino acids.

Those nutrients you listed may be essential to life, but not as single

ingredients in the diet. In the Mannatech promo piece there are some

striking contradictions. For one thing, they acknowledge we have the

ability to synthesize these substances and then two sentences later they

go and label them " essential " . Plus, they are not from a real, food

source. Get yourself some real whole food nutrition that wasn't put

together in a lab by some scientist mixing stuff up in a cauldron.

Sure, those 8 carbs can be helpful in particular situations, e.g.

N-Acetylglucosamine in inflammatory bowel syndromes and other mucosal

diseases. Mannose in bladder problems, etc. Many of these are probably

assimilated by probiotics in a healthy body, from essential building

blocks, such as found in nutrient-dense whole foods. I feel that with

the foundational micronutrients available in nutrient-dense whole foods

we are able to make the sugars for optimal health. Start at the bottom

of the nutritional support chain, instead of what you are doing which is

targeting specific sugars in the middle and end points.

Some people have trouble making nonessential amino acids, too - so

should we also call them essential?

And what do you do for the " real " 45 essential nutrients? And are you

also getting these:

Alanine

Arginine

Asparagine

Aspartic Acid

Betacarotene

Bioflavinoids

Biotin

Boron

Calcium

Chlorophyll

Hi Carol,

In your list of essential nutrients, you missed the 8 essential

carbohydrates that are needed every day by the body (see Harper's

Biochemistry book). There are 200 carbohydrates in nature and 8 of

them are essential for human body cells to be able to communicate

with each other. They combine on the outside of the cells so that

they can tell each other who they are and what they need.

These 8 ESSENTIAL CARBOHYDRATES are:

Glucose

Galactose

Mannose

Fucose

Xylose

N-Acetylglucosamine

N-Acetylneuraminic Acid

N-Acetylgalactosamine
