Increased spring sunshine and the endocrine system

I have tried to find a good article on this subject. There is information on the net about seasonal changes in the body, but much of it is either very technical or geared towards selling supplements. I can only write from personal experience.

During the spring, I spend alot more time outdoors. The extra sunlight after the long winter months indoors increases serotonin levels, and this can jump start the endocrine and hormone system. I find that I must decrease my thyroid dose slightly, or it will wreak havoc on my other hormones, including cortisol (which increases and eventually leads to adrenal fatigue in my case)

It seems that the majority of the medical community does not fully take such seasonal hormonal changes into account when making a diagnosis. I also believe many people are misdiagnosed and given even more meds, including antidepressants, to counteract physical and mental changes during these seasonal shifts -- conditions that could be dealt with more effectively and simply if we took the time to think them out in a more holistic perspective.

I think this is an important topic and maybe can benefit others on the road to optimum health.

Have a great day!
