Guest guest
Ilana Bath salts are usually a combination of ingredients (salts) including epsom salts, sea salt and baking soda to which oils and herbs may be added. mjh In a message dated 1/15/03 8:03:55 AM Eastern Standard Time, herbal remedies writes: THen I guess they wouldn't be real epsom salts, anyways. They'd be fancy bath salts. Great! Magnesium sulphate is what I'll be on the lookout for! ILANA
Guest guest
MJH, Lots of the children I have worked with have had some sort of cranial work...sometimes from and Upledger practitioner, sometimes an SOT chiropractor and sometimes a cranial osteopath. I've seen varying results. The younger they are when they get started, the better the results (especially under 3). One girl, after 3 treatments, looked like she woke up and was seeing the world for the first time. She started to talk and play and just start developing overall. I've seen one infant who was not officially diagnosed with autism yet had all the early signs, become completely fine after CST. I think that by itself, CST is not nearly enough for most, but in combination with the right nutritional/homeopathic and developmental programs, it is part of the whole "cure". I think the results really depend on the practitioner as well. Unfortunately, CST is not very objective. The perceptions and ability of the practitioner play a big role. I know of a D.O. in Washington who is getting great results consistently. I've seen one child who had very little benefit (but the benefit he did get was pretty important to his mom - he became much more able to go to public places - shopping malls, grocery stores, etc). If there is a significant cranial problem in a person who is older, I think they do much better with a dental/cranial approach (where a dentist makes an appliance that addresses the cranial strains on a 24 hr basis). I only know of one dentist who is truely competent at this though. He's working toward training others to do what he does. Most dentist trained in this sort of cranial work have a hard time duplicating and applying the tech the way he does. The dental/cranial work does wonders when there is a compression strain (which is mostly what you see). Barbara Carr, OTR/LbdcarrNatural health for children who have been labeled with autism, learning disabilities and ADD I am curious to know if many of your patients received cranial sacral therapys (Upledger's protocol) and how effective was this for the autistic? thanks mjh In a message dated 1/15/03 8:03:55 AM Eastern Standard Time, herbal remedies writes: Marti, Thanks for the welcome. If he has poor hearing, definately the hearing aids will help! A lot of people with autism have significant cranial problems from birth. This can contribute to the overall ill-health that is underlying the autism as well as cause hearing problems or deafness. If you are interested, I have an article I have written on how cranial problems affect child development and health. It is too long to post to the list (I think), but I could email it off the list if you would like.
