Hi Krista,

DL Phenylalanine is actually an amino acid not produced from our bodies, hence we need to obtain it from eggs and skim milk. Actually L-Phenylalanine is what is used by our bodies and is present in whole eggs and skim milk. Then there is D-Phenylalanine which our bodies can't seem to use cause it is derived from DL-Phenylalanine which is synthesized in a laboratory and isn't natural. The D and the L stand for Dextro(right) and Laevo(left).

So just make sure that you are eating whole organic chicken eggs and you will get all the L-Phenylalanine that you need.

HTH,
