Lactose is a sugar from milk. Lactase is the enzyme that is supposed to break it down. Usually, when you see "ose" on the end like "fructose", it is a sugar. When you see "ase" on the end it is an enzyme.

Re: [herbal remedies] Lactose/Milk/Dairy????

Hi Gina,Sounds like they may be deriving their calcium from a dairy source(lactose). I thought lactose to be an enzyme though. Wonder what this isall about? Why is there sugar the vitamins? Is this ADDED refined sugar or ?I thought sugar was a no-no for ADHD kids as well.I think I'd be changing vitamins.Just my take,Skip-Piscesangel7To: herbal remedies Sent: Friday, January 10, 2003 3:34 PM[herbal remedies] Lactose/Milk/Dairy????Hello Everyone,My head is in a bit of a whirl right now. LOLI have taken my son off dairy products because he wasshowing signs of ADHD in school. Doing this has helpedalot. He has really improved in school. This week he has been having an off week. I recentlypurchased vitamins for him. They are liquid vitamin/mineralwhich contain less than 1 gram of sugar, dairy free, wheat free, etc etc. However I have noticed that when he takes these vitaminshe seems to act up. He took them on and off for a few daysand those days he took them he would have a rough day.Well this week I gave him these vitamins everyday and he hada rough week. My question: On the list of vitamins and mineralsthat it contains it states: Calcium (lactose). Could this bewhat is causing the outbreak?Thank you very much!GinaP.S. Ann that is so wonderful to hear about your son!!! : )
