Hi Juli,

Welcome to our list and no need to apologize. How long have you had this cough? Do you only have it during the morning hours? Is there irritation that sets it off or just the bodies response to cleaning out excess mucus? Does this phlegm feel as though it is coming from the lungs or just from the bronchii? (deep or not so deep). What I am trying to find here is the cause of the cough instead of just treating the symptom! What exactly does your diet consist of? Only fruits and vegetables or do you also eat breads, nuts, grains, legumes?

Hi...I'm new to the list so this may have been asked and answered. Ifso...my apologies.I've been a vegan for almost 30 years and eat very few starches, nosugar, no "junk." So I'm in pretty good shape except constantly havingto clear my throat of phlegm in the morning. Since I work in telesales,my job depends on my being able to articulate and I can't do that if I'mconstantly coughing or clearing my throat, which seems to make it worse.Every morning during my shower, I do a nasal/sinus cleanse but itdoesn't make any difference.A Chinese herbalist told me it's from my kidneys. Has anyone heard this? Can someone give me some suggestions so that I can speak clearly in themornings? By noon, it's fine. Many thanks,JuliFederal Law requires that we warn you of the following: 1. Natural methods can sometimes backfire. 2. If you are pregnant, consult your physician before using any natural remedy. 3. Thanks for your response and I know it's not spelled that way :)

The cough is only to clear my throat occasionally. Even occasionally

is annoying when trying to talk to a client. No irritation at all and it's

not deep. It's a "morning thing". I feel great, have a lot of energy,

sleep well, eat well, including breads, nuts, grain and legumes. I don't

eat diary products, so that's not a cause. I used to have incredible sinus

headaches 25 years ago until I gave up dairy and haven't had one since.

I'm actually in the best shape I've ever been in and the phlegm is only

a nuisance. I don't smoke and am not in an environment that could be causing

it. In fact, I don't even notice it until I start talking and it eventually

disappears.

Hi Juli,

What kind of breads do you eat? Do you sprout your nuts, grains and legumes before using? If you don't then you are creating a negative environment within your body. All legumes, nuts, seeds and grains contain enzyme inhibitors.

These are what allow these nuts, seeds, grains and legumes to lie around for years without sprouting. Once they are soaked for the proper amount of time however, the enzyme inhibitors become disabled and the nuts, seeds, grains and legumes can then sprout. What this means is if you eat them unsprouted these enzyme inhibitors can inhibit your own bodies enzyme activity that is so very necessary to your bodies metabolism, maintenance, and health. All grains, nuts, seeds and legumes are mucus forming. They are acid forming when eaten and create mucus because of this. Try going for say 1 month without eating any flour products at all and see what happens. You can also use a little honey and onion syrup to relieve the cough. Realize that a cough is a sign, a symptom. This means that your body is trying to get rid of something and this something happens to be mucus.

Look in the files and you will find under Articles by Dr. Ian Shillington. There you will find an article talking about "The Hidden Influence". Quite a good read if you have not already read it. You can also try Doc's Panther Piss formula which will assist in bring your body back to its proper acid/alkaline balance.
