You can't really go wrong with a juice fast. There's not much to mess up.

Yes, and there's nothing wrong with that. This industry has moved ahead very well, albeit a little slowly (the pharmaceuticals are still trying to figure out how to take it over).

He's also a huge proponent of vitamin C and supplements in general. In almost every case he talks about supplementing with vitamins and minerals, in some case above and beyond the food.Dr. Ian Shillington wrote:

Dear Linda,

Looks fairly good as a juice fast.

I wasn't happy about the lack of herbals, IE. No use of Echinacea or Garlic to handle colds; no Panther Piss to help with the arthritis; etc, etc.

It looks as if this Doc is primarily a "Food" healer, and I certainly have nothing against that. Doc Jensen was a food healer, and had tremendous stats. However, my viewpoint is: "Why handle something in a year when you can handle it in 3 weeks to 3 months???" Food healing is very effective but takes a lot of time. Add the biochemistry of herbs to this regimen and now you have a powerhouse healing happening ;o)

Dear Linda,

Good for you kiddo.

By all means you should add the Vit E and other supplements back into the regimen.

You should also be taking Echinacea and Total Tonic plus additional garlic. This will ensure that you do not go into a healing crisis. Why get sick from a detox if you don't have to ;o)

Re: [herbal remedies] Juice Fast Advice?

Well, I'm on day 3 - and I'm juicing only fruits and vegetables - including ginger with the fruits, and garlic and onions with the vegetables. Should I be adding other things as well? I'm taking no supplements, (except melatonin at night for sleeping). I have fibromyalgia, and generally I take vitamin/mineral/antioxidant supplements, fish oil caps, flax seed oil, Vitamin E, and was doing MSM for the last couple of months (these vary, according to what I come upon to try :) Should I add back any of these, in addition to the juices? Or anything else (you mentioned echinacea, Doc)? I'm going to try to do this for 10 days.... and then go to a raw food/whole foods diet for awhile. Any ideas, recipes, tips, etc., will be GREATLY appreciated LOL And one more thing (sorry for so many questions - you guys are great!): can you juice sweet potatoes? Oh wait - another one just popped in - are there any fruits or vegetables that can't be combined in juices? I'm keeping fruits and juices separate...... and having 3 or 4 large glasses a day.... along with lots of water.Again, thanks so much, Doc and everyone, for your input!Linda in OH :)
