Lay on your stomach on a firm surface, with your hands down along the side of your body. Steadily and slowly raise both your head, upper body, and STRAIGHT legs. Go to the point of gentle discomfort but not to pain. Hold for a count of ten, relax for a count of ten. Do 10 exercises. It is best to do this AM, afternoon, and night during acute pain and then once a day for maintance. After you have done it awhile you will notice your back muscles are stronger and you are raising higher off the ground. Go as high as you can but without pain. MILD discomfort is ok but no pain.
