Guest guest
I recently had blood work done and my Doctor sent me a form letter, kind of a fill in the blanks thing, informing me that I was anemic,my blood sugar was 113 and that I may be a diabetic, among other things. Guess there was no need to tell me these things in person. Anyhow, there was a scrip included for Glucophage, which i don't want to take. I feel that diet and exercise will probably help this. What my question actually is, i was at the health food store and it was recommended that i take iron, 40 mg. and GTF(glucose tolerance factor) Chromium for the sugar. Is anyone familiar with the Chromium? The herb dude tells me that people have come off their diabetic meds with the use of this. Was wondering if anyone here had experience with it. Guest guest
Such 'conveniences' help me to remember that you are a patient for THEIR convenience and THEIR well-being. After all, most of them are a business or corporation these days. Healing went out the window a LONG time ago with most of them. - Kim herbal remedies Saturday, December 14, 2002 3:56 PM RE: [herbal remedies] GTF chromium question Nice to see the personal touch.. Guest guest
Hi, Chromium Picolinate does have an effect in insulin modulation. Many studies prove this but a recent metastudy by NHI finds no significant positive results. I use Chromium Picolinate(as much as 1000 micrograms a day for certain clients) in combination with other ingredients such as Lipoic Acid, Gimmena, Vanadyl sulphate, etc. But the most important thing is the diet. make sure you start and end the day with some protein, and take all your carbs with some protein or good fats. Reduce your carbohydrate intake to 20-30% of your diet and make sure do not eat simple sugars, fast drinks, diet drinks, or dairy products and go easy on fruits. Bulk up on green leafy vegetables, whole grains, lots of lean protein and you'll do better. Exercise as hard as you can and drink plenty of clean water.
