Guest guest
Opps! I cant believe I forgot about green tea. Been drinking it for about 3 years and it is wonderful in many ways but.......... not all green tea is created equal. The packaged stuff in the grocery store is likely to be quite inferiour nutrient wise than a high quality tea from your local oriental supply store. Living in Japan I am in green tea heaven and use the traditional stuff in powder form- its potent! When we lived in the States I found the best from oriental supply and that topped even what I could find in health food stores. When selecting a good green tea you will find higher quality in loose leaves that are dark green in color somewhat similar to spinich. Japanese green tea is said to have superior processing and retains better nutrition than Chinese green tea. After visiting China I would tend to agree it is likely that Japanese tea may be superior in quality. Green tea in good quality is gaining lots of recognition for many health issues. It visably helps our allergies, dieting and is energizing. Love in Christ, Cindy luv3kidsdc <luv3kidsdc wrote: Hi Again, Kim!You sure do have strong allergies and it may well help your asthma to gain some control over your allergies. First, it is clear you know of your enviromental allergies but have you ever been tested for food allergies by blood draw? The back skin prick test only shows one form of allergies (I cant remember the specific name of the form there is something like IGg and IGa but I may have the acronyms wrong) which often can overlook most food allergies as they tend to be the other type more commonly. Blood draw can in many cases give more complete information along with skin prick. Neither test stands well alone. Our allergist also explained that the effect of allergies tends to accumulate. The key is to eliminate as many allergins as possible and then there tends to be less reaction when unavoidable allergins are encountered. So finding and eliminating food allergies was an imporant key for us. If you have and identified food allergies then that is good info to know. If you havent had a blood draw test there is a good possibility given the severity of your environmental alleriges, you may well suffer from them as well and knowing which ones can be key. Food allergy reactions are not always immediate and can occur in the body up to 3 days following ingestion so sometimes it is tricky to identify if you have them. There are some two self tests you can do your self at home to test if and which food allergies you have. Let me know if you are interested in them and I will post the info. There is no equipment needed other than a stopwatch and paper and pencil. There is so much I could write about our journey into learning about treating and managing our allergies and asthma but I am leary I will make this post too long. I live in a foreign country where I dont speak the language so I tend to get wordy in email lists. Forgive me if I am offensive. I will try to be brief. Because asthma can be so affected by allergies and allergies are an immune sytem issue we found it to be so important to strenthen the immune system. We did that in a variety of ways but prehaps you may want to consider getting advice on obtaining an exceptionally high quality form of Vitamin C. Not all Vit C are equal and you will want a high quality one and prehaps consider sustained release. Maybe you already have a good one. In a reputable book I love called, "Perscription for Nutritional Healing" Balch and Balch writes, "Vit C works synergistically with both Vit E and beta-carotine (meaning each enhances the effectiveness of the other) and "Vit C should be taken in divided doses, twice daily. Esterfied vit C- (ester-c) is a remarkable form of Vit C... which enters the bloodstream 4 times faster than standard vit c."So, I could write lots more regarding strengthening the immune system but in effort to be brief I would encourage you to research ways to stengthen the immune system. Let me know if you have more questions on this area. Once the immune system is strengthened you may find as we did some automatic decrease in allergies and hense secretion. We have used lots of natural antihistimines and have had wonderful results with them. First discover and eliminate all food allergins! Next you can eat lots of foods that have natual antihistamines like pineapples, and thyme. The stinging nettle has alot of good research on it and it is prehaps my most effective herb for asthma/allergies for both my son and I (yes, I use it with my 11 year old son). Here is what James Duke, Phd writes about stinging nettle in ,"The Green PharmacyFour hundred years ago, British herbalist Nicholas Culpeper claimed that nettle roots or leaves, used in juice or tea were safe and sure medicines to open the pipes and passages of the lungs." Also Duke writes, "For many years, Austrailians have viewed nettle as a good treatment for asthma (side note Austrailia is famous for its battle with asthma) but Americans didnt catch on until 5 years ago when a scientific study was published showing nettle as a potent antihistmine. Now nettle is increasingly recommended for hay fever and asthma." Bach and Bach also write, "Nettle reduces inflamation and is a powerful antioxidant that helps prevent free radical damage and aids in preventing allergy attacks."One thought that enters my mind Kim is prehaps it is important to look at why you are experiencing such severe allergy and asthma attacks. Something is obviously irritating your system. When our allergies and asthma were so severe we also had some other troubling symptoms. Several doctors and a year or two later and we finally found out we had aluminum poisioning from cooking off of 10 year old aluminum pans. That was what was the greatest toxin to our bodies and wrecked havoc on our immune system. Have you been evaluated for heavy metal toxicity? Do you have other symptoms besides asthma and allergies? If so you might want to have metal toxicity evaluated. There is a surprisingly high number of people with mercury poisioning. There is a test out you can order yourself if your Doctor isnt approachable about it. I could blab more but I am going to recap and stop!1- check for food allergies2- strengthen immune system- Yikes I never even talked about detoxing. The book I mentioned Perscription for... has a good section on it and there is also a book called, the Liver Cleansing Diet by a female author Cabott maybe??? Detoxing doesnt have to be expensive! I benefitted greatly from detoxing. If you do it make sure you drink TONS of water cause you are releaseing toxins and they need to be flushed out or you will be prone to headaches.3- consider foods with antinfamatory properties/ antihistamines. I dont have research on watermellon but I notice an effect on my sinus immediately after eating a couple of slices. Again pineapple with its bromelin is a good one as long as you are not allergic to pineapple.4-Consider high quality vit c taken with vit e and betacarotine- if you get this in a multivitamine you probably wont get the best quality.5- attempt to find out what is weakened your immune system. Is it an old virus that is still lingering- is it heavy metal poisoning? 6- make sure you are doing what you can to get proper sleep (even if it is propped up on pillows, proper exercise, proper food, and keeping stress low to keep any further comprimise to your immune system. Ok, if I havent put you to sleep yet with my long winded responsethen you are really impressive,LOL! I am going to close this but feel free to let me know if you want follow up on any of these areas. Guest guest
If you can find a quality one, you will be totally amazed at the difference! Several of my relatives who drank green tea were quite shocked at the differnce when I gave them high powered stuff. Usually you can tell higher quality tea by the price. A good one should cost about 10 dollars a package, is usually wrapped in a light blocking/ oxygen blocking wrapper like gold or silver foil. Green tea is sensative to air and light and will loose some of its nutrients in plastic packaging. The only places I have found tea like this is oriental supply and the internet.
