He will be out of commission for quite a while, and I want to put him on the BF & C formula, and use the deep tissue repair oil. I looked at the ingredients in the files, and I understand how to make it, but when I went searching for wintergreen oil, all I could find was the wintergreen essential oil. As the recipe calls for 32 oz. I didn't think that it meant the essential oil...does it? Sometimes you can find it at a pharmacy. or there are places on line you can order it. What is usually found in the affordable range isn't really true oil at all but synthetic Methyl salicylate. True wintergreen (and sweet birch for that matter) is 99 percent Methly salicylate and it's taken by first soaking the leaves and allowing them to partially decay, so the process isn't like the standard essential oil extraction by steam distillation, etc. Anyway, unless it costs a fortune, it's probably synthetic. Why don't you use arnica, either as a tincture or a gel for the horse. I got mine thru Stoney Mountain Botanicals... www.wildroots.com I believe is the url.... Had a bit of trouble when I went looking for it... They sell it in 16 oz bottles.... but I don't remember the price.
