My sister in-law has poison oak and poison ivy ... any ideas what she can put

on it to help? She can't even get an appointment with the Dr before Friday ...

she is breaking out worse and itching more and more.

This is the worse case I have even seen.

So if you can please help with anything you can think of that I could mix up

we would deeply appreciate it.

Can she take a bath in oatmeal? Whirr it up into fine powder in the blender

and add about 1/4 cup to a warm bath. It should help the itching.

Hugs to her

Make some lemon verbena cream. If nothing else mash up some lemon

verbena, or wet some dried stuff down and mix it with a very light

lotion that doesn’t have any scents in it or extra stuff. Then slather

it on.

If you have enough lemon verbena you can just spread it on the skin once

it is macerated. You could also use the oil diluted and rub down with

that.

The other thing is calamine lotion, if you can find it. And of course,

the oatmeal bath will help with the redness and the itching.

EEEk- is there any jewel weed around yet? A jewel weed juice or vinegar

extract is amazing- someone may sell some on line- It is a good thing to

make when the plants are out, and freeze for instaces like this(no, theres

none in my freezer!)

Homeopathic Rhus tox can be helpful(made from poison ivy)

Ill think some more....

  • 6 months later...

I hope someone would be able to get back to me fairly quickly. Our goat has an abscess on the top of her neck. Could someone tell me what abscesses are caused by? Could they be caused by their necks rubbing on the edge of a fence every day, several times a day? You see, our goat is in with our 4-H leader's herd right now. She doesn't have a stall to feed the goats in so what she does is put the hay just outside the fence and lets the goats put their heads through the holes in the fence to get at the hay. Because of this, the top of our goat's necked is rubbing against the fence on a regular basis. The idea she gave us is that abscesses can only be caused by diseases. Is this true? Can they only be caused by diseases? She gave me the name of one disease that she thinks is causing it. I can't even remember the name of it because she used this long medical name. All I know is that it begins with an L and that it is a virus. What could you tell me about it and how I could treat it instead of putting her down??? Our 4-H leader told me that if the abscess returns she will refuse to let us keep our goat there anymore and will even require us to put our goat down. What can you tell me to do???

Thanks!
