Hi Guys,

William did something the other day I wanted to share. For those who don't know William, he's my 11 yr old autistic son that has been on a program of Doc's for over a year now. He is non verbal and considered low functioning.

The other day, I was cleaning the bathroom and William tried to come in and I said something to him to let him know he wasn't about to take a bath(something he loves to do).  A few minutes later, he came back, looked me in the eye(which has greatly increased in the last few days) and made a vocalization(it was uncomprehendable) and I said "Oh, do you need to go?" and he came in and went.

I see this as 3 hurdles he jumped:

1-it wasn't a random vocalization

2-he had a need to let me know something and used his voice instead of signs or motions.

3-he looked me in the eyes while telling me this.

YAHHHHHHHHH WILLIAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love,

Ann
