Certain foods are more likely to make you itchy. These foods are classified as

" direct mast cell

degranulators " which worsen itching and hives. Mast cell degranulators are foods

that cause a release

of histamine, the itch-agent in our skin. These problematic foods are:

Tomatoes and tomato products

Berries and berry flavored products

Egg whites and mayonnaise

Nuts

Chocolate

Shellfish

As well: Aspirin, alcohol and B vitamins.

In simple language allergies.

If you get a reaction from eating to many tomatoes,

it is likely that although you don't notice it,

even in smaller quantities this food might not be good for you.

There are ways of clearing allergies, but even though I offer

this service to my own PX, I still wonder about if this practice is prudent

Another cause of itching in tomatoes is reactions to pesticides, which

are used heavily on non-organic tomatoes.
