It must have no sugar in is and that stuff is kinda hard to find so you might want to call around first. Guest guest Posted November 5, 2002 Report Share Posted November 5, 2002 I have had excellent results with lemon water. Just put about 2 Tablespoons lemon juice to a 20 oz bottle of water. Drink as much of it as you can. Best thing to prevent UTI is to keep your body in an alkaline state. Guest guest Posted November 6, 2002 Report Share Posted November 6, 2002 First and foremost, have a urinalysis (culture) to determine if there is indeed an infection and what the culprit is. Nine of ten times it's e. coli, but sometimes there are other factors at play, including fungi. What has helped me more than anything is uva ursi. I've tried cranberry (unsweetened juice and capsules), other herbs (the only other herb that helped greatly was buchu leaves and they're difficult to obtain) and just about every concoction I heard of. Taking uva ursi in spurts (two weeks on and one week off) successfully eliminated the utis, which is wonderful since I was getting them every time I had sex with my husband! What I was looking for was a way to prevent them, not just to treat them once they came about. Uva ursi is golden when it comes to prevention.
