I am new, but I feel that this is a good time to come

out of the lurk closet! <G> I'm Rowan, 36, I work at

home, and homeschool our 4 kids. I have been studying

herbs on my own, loosely, for about 10 years, as well

as homeopathy and aromatherapy. I have more recently

started studying crystal healing and reiki. 7 years

ago I was diagnosed with Autoimmune Hepatitis, which

is now dormant. I nearly died in the first year due to

my illness. I was on Imuran for 1 month, taken off of

it due to a pregnnacy, then after the pregnancy was on

it again for a little more than a year. I suffered a

pancreatis attack and they took me off of it. I was,

however, on Prednisone for just over 6 years during

that time. I also took herbs for my liver(dandelion,

milk thistle, etc) I have been off of the Prednisone

for about 6 months now and healthy. My illness and the

medications left me very overweight (and it won't go

away), accentuated the roundness of my face, and

impaired my memory. Studying is a chore for me because

I have so much trouble remembering things!

I quit smoking right before I got sick, and oh my

gosh, it was SO hard. 7 years later, I miss the ritual

of smoking, the feeling of relaxation it gave me. I

stress and worry easily and now suffer from panic and

anxiety attacks, but I'd NEVER actually start smoking

again! Kim, I am really proud of you for taking this

difficult step! If I'd continued to smoke, I'd be dead

today, I have no doubt. Instead I can breathe and

taste my food and smell the sweet scent of my babies

hair when I hold them. I wish I'd known of an herbal

remedy that would help with nicotine cravings (is

there anything?), but I chewed straws and ate

sunflower seeds and wrote depressing poetry and got

through it anyway! <G>

Hang tough, you will be glad you did!

Best of luck,

Rowan

The only thing that cures 'burps' is a good old fashion sledge hammer. Unfortunately it's a permanent remedy :)
