Guest guest
Hi Kelly, This is pretty simple. I assume that his toe is swollen as that is usually the case with an infection. Get yourself a big pot, pan or stock pot or large metal or glass bowl. Big enough for him to stick his foot into. Boil some water and fill the bowl or whatever about half way up and throw in about 10 lipton tea bags. Get him to stick his foot in this and keep it in there as long as possible. The tea will help to draw out the infection. The hot will bring blood to the area. The water has got to be hot hot hot!!! After he soaks his big toe or foot until the water is cold take some fresh garlic and mash it up and put it on his toe and bandage it on. Repeat the above two steps as necessary until the infection is gone. Then he may have to have an MD fix that ingrown toe nail. I say this cause I don't have a clue about fixing ingrown toe nails. Hope this helps his big toe. Don - Kelley herbal remedies Tuesday, October 01, 2002 8:22 AM [herbal remedies] Infected Toe.... Help! My husband has a badly infected big toe. He has had it for sometime and it started as an ingrown nail. Well, being a macho man he decided he could take care of it himself. So now its infected and he is in a lot of pain. Are there any remedies I can try. Getting him to a Dr. is almost impossible and if there is another way I would like to try it. So any ideas would be welcomed! Guest guest
Hi Kell, get a foot basin or a pan that is similar size and fill it with hot water, then pour in some epsom salt and make him soak it for at least 1/2 hour. Then rub some tea tree oil generously on his toe and wrap it loosely in cottom gauze and put a cotton sock on his foot. (Tea tree oil will kill both bacterial and fungal infections, so it is ideal for toe problems.) Repeat 3-4 times a day till the infection is drawn out. If he starts getting red streak type rash from toe to foot/lower leg, take him to the doctor, as he may have blood poisoning.
