Guest guest
My sister lost a baby at 12 weeks. She also had a D & C. When they do a D & C they often cause chunks of the actual uterus to be sucked out with the fetal remains. This causes scabbing. When the uterus shrinks these scabs fall off though the wounds are not healed. This is why you are getting the bright blood. You need to watch your blood flow carefully and if you soak more than 1 pad in 2 hours you need to go to the hospital. You also need to watch your iron level. Floradex is a good liquid iron supplement (one I use myself and have had good results from) that was recommended to me by my midwife who is also a naturopathic doctor. The stitch you are talking about. Is it the one where they want to stitch your cervix closed? If so, pass the offer up. I recommend you find a naturopathic doctor in your are or at the very least a midwife. There are things you can take to prevent this from happening again. You said you look for meaning in things like this. Well when my sister went through this she felt that it wasn't time for that baby to come to earth but that when she got pregnant next she would be able to carry the baby to term. Hope this helps and sorry about your little one. They're suspecting an incompetant cervix. Last Sunday night, late, I thought my water broke. But it wasn't clear other than there was no urine smell. It happened when i was having a bit of trouble with constipation , which is very unusual for me. I called the Doctor's office Monday morning and was very quickly pacified into thinking it was just urine and not to worry. I feel bad that I wasn't more insistant with her. Not that anything could have been done anyway but I carried this fetus for 3 more days feeling really bad almost as if you were feeling toxic after a sugar binge. Anyhow it was obviously labor starting but as my susal pregnancie swhich are fast a furious with almost no warning this too all culminated within an hour on the floor of the living with my husband out of town. UGH We're ok emotional for the most part but physically I don't feel I'm doing very well. I feel just a little worse each day instead of better. I assumed that most of wed after the D & C and into thursday morning I was probably mostly drugged and not feeling much but since THursday after noon I've notice the blood is brighter red and not a more brownish color as it was Wed night. Is this normal? The blood has not increased but i'm nto sure it's decreased much either. I'm having trouble sleeping due to dull constant acheing on the uterus and lower back. I've had a D & C once before but there was no baby involved. Could that be the difference in how I'm healing here? I'm also worried about getting pregnant again. I have always had my babies at home and want to continue with that but if they insist on putting in a cerclage (SP?) stitch, is there a chance of this thing not working and coming off? Someone told me that they had a stitch done and then had to have the baby cesarean. That really upsets me! I am a very healthy person and for me to even take an aspirin is rare so I get a bit unconfident and stressed when doctors start taking over and I don't have enough information to make decisions anymore. I felt so out of control wed. I have no answers as to why this happened and it's not enough for some doctor to tell me that "it just happens" Was this baby already dead before Sunday night when my water broke? By appearances there was nothing wrong with this baby. He was very healthy looking. We don't have any lab work results yet but the doctor told us that there probably woudl't be anything there. He also said that a late miscarriage between 15-20 weeks is common. WEll it's not so common for me. I don't like the idea of an invasive proceedure to hold the next baby in and yet I feel like I'm not having a choice if we want another child. Which we do. I tend to get annalitical and looking for answers when something catastrophic happens. I don't really know where to go to read for holistic answers instead. Everything I find tends to be biased on the medical field. aNy thoughts would be appreciated, Tamara __ IncrediMail - Email has finally evolved - Click Here Federal Law requires that we warn you of the following: 1. Guest guest
Dear Tamara, If I were you, I would certainly get some other opinions! You say you've had babies before? And nothing went wrong with them? In that case it sounds like a very drastic measure just because this once something did go wrong. Check out this website: http://www.gr8birth.com. Someone there may be able to help you :-) all the best, Lisa - RT herbal remedies Saturday, September 21, 2002 7:05 PM [herbal remedies] Pregnancy loss Hello all, This hasn't been a more positive week as we lost our baby at 18 weeks. Guest guest
I have talked to the doctor and it has been many years since my last pregnancies. he feels this one is basically as if I was starting out as a first time mom again. He wasn't surprised and doesn't seem overly concerned that the next one will be jsut fine. If I had a choice in theis area I would have found a midwife but there are none in my area and until I get comepletly moved to Salt Lake, in which i've already found a holistic practitioner and midwife, there isn't anyone I can see for medical care other than the doctors here. I wonder a lot of things too THank you for your comments, Tamara ---- herbal remedies Saturday, September 21, 2002 1:04:07 PM herbal remedies Re: [herbal remedies] Pregnancy loss Hi Tamara,My sympathy goes out to you and your husband. My first pregnancy ended in a miscarriage at 16 weeks and I do remember a lot of blood. I wonder why you would have an incompetent cervix now when it's been competent before? I suggest you call Doc and talk to him about this.Love to you and yours,Ann This hasn't been a more positive week as we lost our baby at 18 weeks.
