Hi Amy,

Boy nothing like jumping in with both feet and damn the torpedos. Your body is going through some serious withdrawals. Yes, it is all part of the detoxing effect. Might I suggest that you do the liver cleanse and total body cleanse (you will find everything in the files). It is very good that you have decided to make this dietary change. A little more gentle approach would have been a little easier on your system however. So you made the choice. Now you should know that your liver is most likely congested to some extent, as are your bowels probably. Doing a thorough cleansing of your body will help you immensely to get through this period and make your change over easier. As you detox you will find that your taste for veggies will increase. Most folks who subsist on a diet of junk food don't really care much for veggies. Anyway, that would be my suggestion for you. You are well on your way to a healthier happier new you, this is for certain.

[herbal remedies] Tiredness and muscle aches

Hi guys,

I have eaten junk food most of my life (fast food, candy, soda, etc.) A few days ago I made a fairly radical diet change. Organic everything, whole wheat (no white flour), no sugar, little dairy, fresh fruit (not canned, frozen, etc.), any meat I want (as long as it's organic and not fast food), lots of water and lots of supplements. I should be eating veggies too, but I really don't like them at all.

I feel more tired than usual and have muscle aches. Would this be a normal reaction to such a radical change in diet? I'm curious as to what might be causing this. Detoxing effect? Coming off of sugar or chemicals in junk food? Or does my body just not know what to do with all this healthy stuff? ;)

Any advice would be welcomed.

Hi Amy,

Yes I have heard of the Burroughs Master Cleanse. No I have not done it. Yet! It does sound like it is right up my alley though. I would think that the results would be fantastic for anyone who does this cleanse. But be forwarned, it is recommended that you cleanse for two weeks. If you are not used to fasting then build up to it. If you wish any more info feel free to ask.

Hi again!

Don, I like your suggestion of a cleanse. Have you (or anyone else reading this) ever heard of The Master Cleanse by Stanley Burroughs? Anyone done it? What were the results like?

Amy,

I don't know if you have ever done fastings or not. If you have then you know kind of what to expect. The most I have done so far is one week. If you have never tried fasting it can be quite an experience. Fasting drastically speeds up the cleansing process. All those toxins come dumping into your blood stream and all hell breaks loose. If you are gutsy, and from your first posting I would say your pretty gutsy, and you wish to try for the full two weeks then by all means. Just be forwarned that many undesirable things will occur. Of course they are desirable in the fact that you are getting rid of all the toxins. It is just very hard on ones body. This is why I caution you to do one, two, or three day fasts. Do them as often as you feel like doing them but take some time in between to slow down the toxin dumping. Otherwise, you could end up in some deep doodoo. I would suggest that you do say a three day fast, take a week off and do it again, take a week off and do it again. This will gradually build your body up to being able to #1 fast for longer periods of time and #2 allow for the slower removal of a lot of toxins without creating major problems. Anyone will tell you that too much too soon is not good. As time progresses and most of the toxins are out of your system then you can do longer periods of fasting and not have any problems at all. The first time I tried fasting for three days and I thought I was going to die. I have been working at it for over two years now and just finished a seven day fast with no problems whatsoever. I am ready to do it again. I am working up to a 21 day fast. This is my goal. I am bound and determined that I am going to thoroughly cleanse my body of any and all toxins. So this is what I meant by this. You will find that your fasting and toxin removal will be much easier and quicker, however, if you don't eat meat or any flour products. Stick to the fruits and start eating the green leafy vegetables that you don't like. This will help you alot.

My two cents worth.

Hi Don,

I do have another question. What do you mean by building up to a two week cleanse? Would you suggest I do the program for a couple days, back to eating for a few days, then do it again for more days, etc.?

This is something I also experienced. Often in this culture there is a severe overabundance of sugar in the body. When combined with just 1 usage of antibiotics many develop Candida. This is the overgrowth of yeast in the body. When yeast is being killed of via starvation from sugar on which it feeds and survives is releases a toxin that not only makes you tired, achy and irritable, it also makes you crave sugar. It does this in an effort to stay alive. There are some herbs that you can take to aid in killing off the excess but I can't remember them. I think one of them was called Zymex by Standard Process. I'm sure there is someone on the list that knows them.

Having done a lot of candida cleansing the herbs I've found most helpful

are Pau D'Arco and Wormwood. I good acidophilus supplement will also help,

however, you want to be sure that you don't take it at the same time you

take the other herbs. A good practice for me was taking Pau D'Arco in the

morning and acidophilus just before bed. Doc's total body cleanse,

especially the intestinal cleanse part of it did wonders for my candida.
