Guest guest
Hi, this is an organic food share and question. I have been using a reciepe I found online- http://www.bertiecopeanuts.com/recipes.cfm to make peanut butter. I used canola oil since I couldn't find any organic peanut oil. Nuetella was one of my son's fav foods so I exchanged about 2 T of peanuts for (organic) chocolate chips for one a batch. I'll half the chips next time. For the question part- peanut butter and egges are the major source protien, so I was wondering if adding different nuts to the peanut butter would be helpful. Guest guest
Canola oil is definitely not my favorite. At one time its ancestor, rapeseed, was used widely as an insecticide. Canola is simply a highly bred form of rapeseed that will grow in colder climates. It is not natural at all. Wonder what would happen if you used flax seed oil for peanut butter? That would be an interesting experiment. My schedule won't allow me to make this any time soon -- our school just got 23 computers donated & i have to get them all up and running ASAP. Adding other nuts should be done carefully. I've been researching nuts lately, and have found some perplexing things. All nuts contain various exotic micronutrients, some of which can react with some people. Cashews are not that good as it turns out. Same with pistachios. But almonds are fairly good, and seem to have some anti-cancer properties. Hazelnuts are mixed. Macadamia nuts seem to be really good. Not sure if i would recommend pinon nuts unless a person has Native American ancestry. So if you have a sensitive kid, you might want to carefully track any reactions when other nuts are added. Guest guest
If you have Native American ancestry you would most likely be more tolerant of Corn Oil. That's interesting about your reaction to Flax Seed Oil. Will have to remember that. At 10:39 PM 9/7/02 -0700, you wrote: > >OK no more Canola oil. I have always though we had some native american in us- pretty close. I have always thought it was a family secret. (We have a few " dead ends " in the family tree.) So to the point here. I finally got to meet my chiropractor's wife (full blood Native American) when I was with my Dad and found out that they had been having a discussion as to my orgins. She said when she saw my father she knew immediately we were. So now I am trying to find the answer. >Dooodles -- Michael Riversong ** Professional Harpist, Educator, and Writer ** RivEdu ** Phone: (307)635-0900 FAX (413)691-0399 http://home.earthlink.net/~rivedu -- Educational Site
Guest guest
I've used virgin coconut oil before for this. It was an interesting taste but if the taste of coconut is horrendous to you-don't try it. Ann OK no more Canola oil. I have used flax seed oil in the past and it played with my hormones. I became very irregular. Any ideas on what type of oil I should get next time?
