Is Kava about to become unavailable in the US ?

I was at the vitamin store today and couldn't find my brand of Kava on the

shelf. I asked the person at the register what happened and he told me that they

were informed that every supplement company they get their Kava from has stopped

production and sale of the herb. He also infored me that Canada issued a ban on

Kava just last week. Those of us who rely on Kava for relief from anxiety

disorder now have something new to worry about. Does anyone know of any

supplement companies who still plan to market the herb or if a ban is right

around the corner? Any feedback would be appreciated. It's bard to believe the

amount of harm that half truths and misinformation can do.

I think I know which company you are referring to. That company chose

to stop production of Kava. The reason they did is they are owned by

the pharmaceutical company who was under the gun in Germany about

kava. Kava Kava is not banned in the US. The FDA's findings have not

been conclusive enough to ban the use of the herb in the US. Kava

truly is a safe root to use. The Polynesians have been using the root

for over 3000 years without any problems.

Thanks for the reply, Mark. I know the company you refer to. One of the other

" major " supplement makers pulling Kava from the market, I was told, is somehow

under the grip of the German E Commission. This whole scare is even more of a

joke when you understand that the average dose (bowl) of Kava consumed in the

South Pacific is much more potent than the extracts sold here and in Europe.

The Polynesians make there Kave juice preparations by water

extraction. I've heard recently that research is showing a constituent

in Kava root actually prevents liver damage.
